Sugar Magnolia
"Sugar Magnolia" is a song by the Grateful Dead. Written by Robert Hunter and Bob Weir, it is one of the most well-known songs by the band, alongside such hits as "Truckin'", "Casey Jones", "Uncle John's Band", "Touch of Grey", and fellow sugar-adjacent tune "Sugaree". First released on the 1970 album '' American Beauty'', "Sugar Magnolia" made its live debut on June 7, 1970 at the Fillmore West in San Francisco. When performed live, the song was often divided into two different entities: "Sugar Magnolia" proper and the "Sunshine Daydream" coda. The break between the two could be a few beats, a set, or even a few concerts. On one memorable occasion, the week of long-time friend of the band Bill Graham's death, the coda was held off for an entire week. The Grateful Dead was an American rock music, rock band formed in 1965 in Palo Alto, California. "Me and My Uncle", often also written as "Me & My Uncle," is a song composed by John Phillips (musician), John Phillips of The Mamas and the Papas, and popularized in versions by Judy Collins and the Grateful Dead. ''Dick's Picks Volume 12'' is the 12th live album in the Dick's Picks series of releases by the Grateful Dead. It was recorded on June 26, 1974, at the Providence Civic Center in Rhode Island and on June 28 at the Boston Garden. Enclosure Included with the release is a single sheet folded in half, yielding a four-page enclosure. The front duplicates the cover of the CD and the back contains an oval-shaped photograph, tinted in purple and green, of the sound system. Credited to Mary Ann Mayer, surrounding the photo is a background of clouds that flows seamlessly into the clouds on the cover. ''Dick's Picks Volume 10'' is the tenth live album in the Dick's Picks series of releases by the Grateful Dead. It was recorded at Winterland Arena in San Francisco on December 29, 1977, with extra tracks recorded on the following night. The album omits the songs "It Must Have Been the Roses" and "Sunrise", which followed "Good Lovin'". It also includes the first performance of "China Cat Sunflower" in over three years, which is audibly greeted with applause from the audience. ''Hundred Year Hall'' is a two-CD live album by the Grateful Dead. It was the first album to be released after Jerry Garcia's death, and one of the first releases in a continuing rush of live albums from the band's vault. It contains about two thirds of the April 26 concert at the Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt, West Germany, during the Dead's Spring 1972 tour of Europe (a tour originally represented by the ''Europe '72'' album, released in 1972; though that release contained no tracks from the Frankfurt date). ''Sunshine Daydream'' is a music documentary film, starring the rock band the Grateful Dead. It was shot at their August 27, 1972 concert at the Old Renaissance Faire Grounds in Veneta, Oregon. Unreleased for many years, the film was sometimes shown at small film festivals, and bootleg recordings of it circulated on VHS and DVD, and as Digital distribution, digital downloads. A digitally remastered and reedited official version of the film was released on August 1, 2013, showing only one time in selected theaters as that year's edition of the Grateful Dead Meet-Up at the Movies.
