Sue Monroe
Sue Monroe is a British television presenter, actress, and author best known for hosting CBeebies, and playing Poppy in ''Playdays''. Career Monroe presented, voiced and puppeteered Poppy the Cat in Playdays from 1990 to 1997. In February 2002, she became one of the first presenters on CBeebies, with Chris Jarvis, Sidney Sloane, and Pui Fan Lee. She voiced Tigs the Tiger in the CBeebies show The Shiny Show. CBeebies
CBeebies is a British free-to-air public broadcast children's television channel owned and operated by the BBC. It is also the brand used for all BBC content for children aged 6 years and under. Its sister channel CBBC is aimed at older children ages 6–12. It broadcasts every day from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm, timesharing with BBC Four. ''Playdays'' (known as ''Playbus'' until December 1989) is a British pre-school television programme which ran from 1988 to 1997 on CBBC. The show was the successor to ''Play School'' and, like its predecessor, was designed as an educational programme. The show's name was changed after the BBC received a complaint from the National Playbus Association. In 2002, reruns were moved to the new CBeebies channel until August 2004. The stops The show would begin with an animated title sequence of the Playbus driving along until it reached the bus stop. The bus stopped at a different place each day. Chris Jarvis (presenter)
Martin Christopher Jarvis (born 20 April 1969) is an English actor, presenter and writer who has appeared mainly on children's television for the BBC since 1992, apart from 2000–2002 when he was working with ITV and Channel 4. In 2019 he started a radio station for children called Little Radio. Career Early career Jarvis made his name in the early 1990s on Children's BBC, presenting from the "Broom Cupboard" alongside Zoe Ball and Josie d'Arby as well as hosting his own shows like ''Look Sharp''. Chris wrote a lot of material for Children's BBC himself (including the mini soap opera ''Wood Lane TV'') and created several memorable characters including "The Anorak". Sidney Sloane
Sidney Sloane (born Gary Gibson; 7 June 1967) is a British actor and television presenter. Born to Afro-Caribbean parents, he grew up in the Wandsworth and Wimbledon borders of South London. He attended Southmead Primary School and John R.C. Secondary School. He took the stage name Sidney Sloane when he changed career from Stockbroking to study acting in 1997 at the Academy of Creative Training in Brighton. A successful audition landed him a main role in the Belgrade Theatre Company's production of The Twits which took on a No.1 theatre tour of the United Kingdom. After an invitation to meet with some BBC executives and a screen test for the possible role as a presenter, a formal job offer was made. Pui Fan Lee
Pui Fan Lee (born ) is a British-born Chinese actress and presenter. Along with Sue Monroe, Chris Jarvis, and Sidney Sloane she was one of the first presenters on CBeebies, the BBC television channel for younger children. She is known for portraying Po in the original 1997–2001 run of the children's television series Teletubbies, and for presenting the CBeebies preschool education series '' Show Me Show Me''. Lee's family came from Hong Kong. She was born in Birmingham, and grew up in Nottingham. She moved to London to study drama. She took on the role of Po shortly after leaving Drama school. The Shiny Show
''The Shiny Show'' is a British educational children's quiz show, broadcast in the United Kingdom by CBeebies, BBC One and BBC Two, that was produced by Open Mind Productions. It was aired in 2002 and 2003, and was aimed particularly at children between the ages of 3 and 6 years old. Each show featured a quiz with six questions, based around different subjects, and featured four star characters: Tigs the Tiger, Mukka the Monkey, Dogsby the Dog and Alarmorama the machine. Characters Tigs Tigs is an orange tiger, who is often portrayed as confident and big-headed. She is still extremely lively and always gets the starring role in the short plays or poems the group act out in between rounds.
