Sudan Men's National Basketball Team
The Sudanese national basketball team is the national team of the country of Sudan. It is administered by the Sudan Basketball Association. In the 1960s and 1970s, the country was among the continent's basketball elite as it finished runner-up at the FIBA Africa Championship in 1962 and won bronze in 1975. The country has produced some NBA players, most notably Manute Bol and Luol Deng of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Deng, however, is not eligible for the national team, as he has been naturalized in the United Kingdom and plays for the UK in FIBA competitions and England in the Commonwealth Games. Traditionally, most of Sudan's most talented players have usually come from the South. FIBA Africa Championship 1968
The FIBA Africa Championship 1968, was the fourth FIBA Africa Championship regional basketball championship held by FIBA Africa, which also served as Africa qualifier for the 1968 Summer Olympics, granting berths to the champion and runner-up. It was held in Morocco between 29 March and 6 April 1968. Nine national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Africa, the sport's regional governing body. The city of Casablanca hosted the tournament. Senegal won their first title after defeating hosts Morocco in the final. Format *Teams were split into two round-robin groups of five and four teams. The top two teams from each group advanced to the knockout semi-finals. FIBA AfroBasket 2017 was the 29th edition of the AfroBasket, a men's basketball continental championship of Africa. The tournament was jointly hosted by Tunisia and Senegal. Angola was proposed by FIBA Africa to host the tournament, an offer declined as the country is holding general elections in the same period. Tunisia won their second title after defeating Nigeria 77–65 in the final, while Senegal caught the third place by beating Morocco 73–62.
