Sucesso Do Inconsciente
''Sucesso do Inconsciente'' ( Portuguese for "''Success of the Unconscious''") is the fourth studio album by Brazilian new wave band João Penca e Seus Miquinhos Amestrados. It was released in 1989 by independent label Esfinge. The album spawned the hit single "Matinê no Rian", which would be used as the opening theme of the ''telenovela'' ''O Sexo dos Anjos''. Paula Toller of Kid Abelha fame provides additional vocals for this track. Background "Matinê no Rian" references the Cinema Rian, a famous now-defunct movie theater in Rio de Janeiro which was founded by then-First Lady of Brazil Nair de Tefé in 1932 and demolished in 1983. "S.O.S. Miquinhos" is a medley (or, as João Penca puts it, "merdley", a portmanteau of "merda" — the Portuguese word for "shit" — and "medley") comprising the tracks "Namoradinha de um Amigo Meu" (a parody of Roberto Carlos' eponymous song), "Esperto É o Coqueiro", "Certo ou Errado", "Rua Augusta", "Vem Quente que Eu Estou Fervendo" and a c ...

Founded under the name Zoo, they were famous for their humorous, tongue-in-cheek lyrics filled with double entendres and innuendos which frequently parodied the tropes of 1950s rockabilly and 1960s surf music culture, and for their clothing heavily inspired by singers such as Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry. Alongside the more famous Ultraje a Rigor and Mamonas Assassinas, they are considered to be pioneers of the comedy rock genre in Brazil. History The band was formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1977 as "Zoo" by five friends who lived in the same building in the '' bairro'' of Leblon: Sérgio Ricardo Abreu ("Selvagem Big Abreu"), Marcelo Ferreira Knudsen ("Bob Gallo") and his younger brother Cláudio "Killer" Knudsen, Luís Carlos de Avellar Júnior ("Avellar Love") and Léo ...

Yellow River (song)
"Yellow River" is a song recorded by the British band Christie. It was released in 1970 and became a No. 1 hit song for the band in the UK. Background The song was written by the leader of Christie, Jeff Christie. It was first offered to The Tremeloes, who recorded it with the intention of releasing it as a single early in 1970. However, after the success of their then most recent single, "(Call Me) Number One", and after considering it too pop-oriented for their future direction, they decided to follow it up with another of their own compositions, "By the Way", which was only a minor Top 40 success. Producer Mike Smith therefore took their vocals off the recording and added Jeff Christie's. Released on 23 April 1970, it became an international hit, reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart for one week in June 1970. In the US, it reached number 23 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The actual location of Yellow River in this song is not specified, although the author, Jeff Ch ...
