"Johnny B" is a song from The Hooters' third studio album '' One Way Home''. It was written by Eric Bazilian, Rick Chertoff and Rob Hyman. "Johnny B" was released as a single in 1987 by Columbia Records, and reached #61 on ''Billboard'' Hot 100 list. The song had considerable success in Germany, topping at #7 for two weeks. An accompanying music video was also released, directed by David Fincher. '' Cash Box'' said that it "is filled with musical textures that enhance the narrative and range from Old World quaintness to gritty guitar-based rock." The song was covered in 1997 by the German rap group Down Low and reached #4 on the German Singles Chart. The Finnish rock band Yö has also recorded a Finnish version of the song with the title "Angelique". Jonathon "Johnny B" Brandmeier (born July 15, 1956) is a Chicago radio personality and musician. Career Born John Francis Brandmeier to a German father and a Lebanese mother, Brandmeier started his radio career in 1973 at WFON in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. When he was 18 he joined WOSH in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, later working as a DJ at WYNE (now WHBY) in Appleton, Wisconsin, then at KLIV in San Jose, California, then as the morning jock at WYBR-FM (now WXRX) in Rockford, Illinois, and then in 1980 at WOKY in Milwaukee. In February 1981, he was brought on as the KZZP morning DJ in Phoenix, Arizona, where he participated in prank phone calls and silly song parodies. In 1982, Brandmeier released his first album ''Just Havin' Fun.'' WLUP ("The Loop") in Chicago hired him in 1983, where his morning show was broadcast on both the AM and FM stations. ''Johnny Be Good'' is a 1988 American comedy film directed by Bud S. Smith, starring Anthony Michael Hall as the main character, Johnny Walker. Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon and sportscaster Howard Cosell make cameo appearances.
