''Successor'' (stylized as ''$uccessor'') is the debut studio album by American experimental artist Fred Warmsley, under the alias Dedekind Cut. It was released on November 11, 2016, by NON Worldwide and Hospital Productions. The album features guest vocals from Active Child, as well as co-production from producer Al Carlson, notable for his work on Oneohtrix Point Never's ''Replica'' and St. Vincent's '' Marry Me''. Background and recording In 2013, Warmsley, then known as Lee Bannon and for his production work with Pro Era, began to explore a more experimental sound as a solo artist. In June 2013, he self-released ''NW/WB'', which showcased strong jungle and drum and bass influences and garnered a significant amount of attention. The project drew the interest of record labels including Warp Records, Sacred Bones Records and Ninja Tune, which signed Warmsley in October 2013. Fred Welton Warmsley III (born September 22,1987), is an American record producer and sound artist from Sacramento, California. Initially known for his work with the New York City-based hip hop collective Pro Era, he has since been known for producing in multiple genres including breakcore, ambient and noise music, releasing eight extended plays and two long plays since 2013, including the critically acclaimed ''Alternate/Endings''. His debut studio album under the name Dedekind Cut, although no at all related to Dedekind Music helped him capitalized his music and the entitled '' $uccessor'', was released in November 2016. ''Marry Me'' is the debut studio album by American musician St. Vincent (musician), St. Vincent. It was released on July 10, 2007, in the United States and on September 3, 2007 in the United Kingdom, through Beggars Banquet Records. The album is named after a running gag from the television show ''Arrested Development (TV series), Arrested Development''. As of 2009, the album has sold an estimated 30,000 copies. Background St. Vincent started working on ''Marry Me'' before she joined The Polyphonic Spree, and finished it while touring with them. Sufjan Stevens heard it and asked St. Vincent to be in his band and open for him; after a show in London opening for Stevens, Beggars Banquet Records offered St. Vincent a record contract and published the record. Drum and bass (also written as drum & bass or drum'n'bass and commonly abbreviated as D&B, DnB, or D'n'B) is a genre of electronic dance music characterized by fast breakbeats (typically 165–185 beats per minute) with heavy bass and sub-bass lines, samples, and synthesizers. Jungle is a genre of dance music that developed out of the UK rave scene and sound system culture in the 1990s.
