Subrata (Hindi/ Sanskrit: सुव्रत, Odia: ସୁବ୍ରତ Bengali: সুব্রত), also Subroto (Read and written as by Bengalis and Javanese) or Subrata/Subrat/Shubrat/Subroto/Suvrat (Read and Written as by Odias), is a common name in India, especially among Oriya and Bengali people and in Indonesia especially among Javanese and Sundanese people. Subroto (19 September 1923 – 20 December 2022) was an Indonesian administrator and economist. He was a doctoral graduate and faculty member of University of Indonesia between 1956 and 1963, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources between 1978 and 1988, and Secretary General of OPEC between 1988 and 1994. Air Marshal (India), Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee Order of the British Empire, OBE (Bengali Language, Bengali: সুব্রত মুখোপাধ্যায়) (5 March 1911 – 8 November 1960) was an Indian military officer who was the first Chief of Air Staff (India), Commander-in-Chief (C-in-C) of the Indian Air Force. Subrata Mukherjee (14 June 1946 – 4 November 2021) was an Indian politician who was cabinet minister of the government of West Bengal and sitting member of West Bengal Legislative Assembly. Subroto Guha
Subrata Guha (31 January 1946 – 5 November 2003) was an Indian cricketer who played in four Test matches between 1967 and 1969. Guha was a medium-fast opening bowler. While he was a 20-year-old student at Calcutta University, he was largely responsible for inflicting the only defeat on the touring West Indians in 1966–67, when he took 4 for 64 and 7 for 49 for a combined Central and East Zones team. He was less successful on the subsequent tour of England, although he played in one of the Tests. He also had little success in three Tests against Australia in 1969–70.
