Fred Sturdy
Frederic Harry Sturdy (January 25, 1908 – August 4, 1972) was an American pole vaulter. One of the first vaulters to clear 14 feet, Sturdy was U.S. outdoor champion in 1929 and 1930 and indoor champion from 1929 to 1932. Athletic career Originally from Los Angeles, Sturdy studied at Yale University, which had a long pole vault tradition. He was coached by Yale's assistant track coach Al McGall and former champion vaulter A.C. Gilbert; Sabin Carr, the 1928 Olympic champion and the first man to vault 14 ft (4.26 m), was a year ahead of Sturdy and also helped him. Sturdy developed steadily, but was overshadowed by Carr until the latter graduated; he placed third at the 1927 IC4A indoor championships as Carr won, and in 1928 was runner-up to Carr in the indoor IC4A meet and tied for third behind Carr and USC's Lee Barnes outdoors. Guy Sturdy
Guy R. Sturdy (August 7, 1899 – May 4, 1965) was a professional baseball player. He was a first baseman over parts of two seasons (1927–1928) with the St. Louis Browns. For his career, he compiled a .288 batting average and one home run in 66 at-bats, with 13 runs batted in. Sturdy was born in Sherman, Texas. After his playing careers, he managed in the minor leagues for 12 seasons, including one season in his hometown, leading the Sherman Twins to a 70–70 record in 1946. Sturdy died in Marshall, Texas Marshall is a city in the U.S. state of Texas. John Henry Sturdy
John Henry Sturdy (January 27, 1893 – September 20, 1966) was an educator and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Saskatoon City from 1944 to 1960 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) member. He was born in Goderich, Ontario and came to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1912. Educated at the University of Saskatchewan and the Saskatoon Normal School, he taught school briefly and then served in France with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during World War I. After the war, he farmed for a while and then became a school principal in Fort Qu'Appelle. In 1934, Sturdy was an unsuccessful Farmer-Labour candidate for the Qu'Appelle-Wolseley seat in the provincial assembly. Robert Sturdy (born 22 June 1944, in Wetherby, West Riding of Yorkshire) is a British politician, and former Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the East of England constituency for the Conservative Party. Coenurosis, also known as caenurosis, coenuriasis, gid or sturdy, is a parasitic infection that develops in the intermediate hosts of some tapeworm species (''Taenia multiceps'', '' T. serialis, T. brauni,'' or ''T. glomerata''). It is caused by the coenurus, the larval stage of these tapeworms. The disease occurs mainly in sheep and other ungulates, but it can also occur in humans by accidental ingestion of tapeworm eggs. Adult worms of these species develop in the small intestine of the definitive hosts (dogs, foxes and other canids), causing a disease from the group of taeniasis. Humans cannot be definitive hosts for these species of tapeworms.
