Stuart Morgan
Stuart Edward Morgan (born 23 September 1949 in Swansea) is a Welsh former professional footballer and football manager. A central defender, he made 222 appearances in the Football League playing for Torquay United, Reading, Colchester United and AFC Bournemouth. As manager, he took charge of Torquay United in the Football League and Weymouth (twice) and Dorchester Town in non-League football. Career Morgan joined West Ham United as a junior, turning professional in March 1967. However, he was never to make the West Ham first team. He joined Torquay United on loan in February 1969, making his league debut on 15 February in a 2–1 win at home to Watford. He remained at Plainmoor until the end of the season, playing 14 league games. In November 1969, Morgan moved to Reading where he played 46 times before moving to Colchester United in August 1972. Darren Cann
Darren Cann (born 17 June 1969) is an English former professional footballer who played as a central defender. He is the men's soccer coach at St. Thomas University in New Brunswick. Career Cann was born in Torquay. He joined Torquay United as an apprentice, making his debut v Burnley in the 1986–87 season whilst still an apprentice as Torquay, managed by Stuart Morgan struggled to retain their place in the Football League. He turned professional in June 1987, but was released at the end of the following season having made 12 league appearances, scoring one goal. In 1987 Cann was selected to represent the FA Colts 11. While with Torquay, he also had a spell on loan with Weymouth. In July 1988 he joined Barnstaple Town and embarked on a successful career in semi-professional football. Chris Myers (footballer)
Christopher Myers (born 1 April 1969) is an English former professional footballer who played for clubs including Torquay United and Exeter City. Career Myers began his career with Torquay United, making his debut in 1986 whilst still a trainee. He turned professional in June 1987, but was released after just nine league games. He played for Dawlish Town and then Barnstaple Town until August 1990, but was re-signed by Torquay United. His second spell at the club was more successful, and he was a member of Torquay's promotion winning side in 1991. He was sold to Dundee United for a fee of £100,000 in August 1993, but struggled to establish himself at Tannadice and returned to Torquay on loan in December 1993. Tom Kelly (footballer, Born 1964)
Thomas John Kelly (born 28 March 1964) is a Scottish former professional footballer. Kelly began his professional career when he joined Hibernian from Scottish non-league sidGartcosh United He subsequently moved on to Partick Thistle and Queen of the South before joining Hartlepool United on a free transfer in August 1985. He played 15 times the following season, but was released and joined Torquay United in July 1986. The following season saw Torquay involved in a battle to avoid being the first side to suffer automatic relegation to the Conference, Kelly playing in the final game of the season against Crewe Alexandra in which Paul Dobson's late goal saw Lincoln City relegated. Taunton () is the county town of Somerset, England, with a 2011 population of 69,570. Its thousand-year history includes a 10th-century monastic foundation, Taunton Castle, which later became a priory. The Normans built a castle owned by the Bishops of Winchester. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). Since 2015, it has been known as The Emirates FA Cup after its headline sponsor. A concurrent women's tournament is also held, the Women's FA Cup. Jim McNichol
James Anthony McNichol (born 9 June 1958) is a Scottish former professional footballer who is most noted for his career at Torquay United and Exeter City. He was capped by Scotland at U21 level. Playing career An apprentice at Ipswich Town, McNichol joined Luton Town in July 1976. He later played for Brentford (his transfer setting a new club record incoming fee of £33,000), before moving on to Exeter City. In July 1986 he joined Torquay United. On 9 May 1987 Torquay were heading out of the Football League, 2–0, down to Crewe Alexandra at half-time in the last game of the season, they needed two more goals to ensure survival—McNichol, Paul Dobson and a German shepherd called Bryn saved the day for Torquay.
