Street Fighter (Malibu Comics)
''Street Fighter'' is a comic series based on the Street Fighter, game series of the same name that ran for three issues from August to November 1993, published by Malibu Comics. Set after the events of the original ''Street Fighter'' game, the series focused on M. Bison's attempts at taking over the world and eliminate those Street Fighters that he sees as a threat to his plans. Plot Following the end of the previous Street Fighter World Tournament, in which Ryu (Street Fighter), Ryu defeated the decade-long world champion Sagat (Street Fighter), Sagat, Ryu and his friends Ken Masters, Ken and Chun-Li have each taken different paths in life. Malibu Comics
Malibu Comics Entertainment, Inc. (also known as Malibu Graphics) was an American comic book publisher active in the late 1980s and early 1990s, best known for its Ultraverse line of superhero titles. Notable titles published by Malibu included '' The Men in Black'', ''Ultraforce'', and ''Night Man''. The company's headquarters was in Calabasas, California. Malibu was initially publisher of record for Image Comics from 1992 to 1993. The company's other imprints included Adventure, Aircel and Eternity. Sheng Long
Sheng Long is a character hoax related to the ''Street Fighter'' series, created by ''Electronic Gaming Monthly'' (''EGM'') as an April Fools' prank in 1992 (in an issue published mid-February). The joke, based upon a mistranslation that suggested the existence of a character named Sheng Long in the Capcom fighting game ''Street Fighter II'', described a method to fight the character in the game. After other publications reprinted the details as fact without verifying its legitimacy, the Sheng Long hoax spread worldwide. As a result of discussion revolving around the possibility of the character's appearance in ''Street Fighter III'' during the game's development, ''EGM'' revisited the joke in 1997, printing an updated version of the hoax for the title while establishing a backstory and appearance for the character in the process. Shotokan
is a style of karate, developed from various martial arts by Gichin Funakoshi (1868–1957) and his son Gigo (Yoshitaka) Funakoshi (1906–1945). Gichin Funakoshi was born in Okinawa and is widely credited with popularizing "karate do" through a series of public demonstrations, and by promoting the development of university karate clubs, including those at Keio, Waseda, Hitotsubashi (Shodai), Takushoku, Chuo, Gakushuin, and Hosei. Balrog (Street Fighter)
Balrog is a fictional character in Capcom's ''Street Fighter'' series. He made his first appearance in '' Street Fighter II: The World Warrior'' in 1991. In the series, he is a disgraced boxer and antagonist who works for M. Bison's organization, Shadaloo. Conception and development Balrog is depicted as an African-American boxer wearing blue trunks with white trim and a torn white shirt under a blue tank top, wearing red boxing gloves and boxing shoes. In Japan, the character of Balrog is named M. Bison (with the letter being an initial for "Mike") after real-life boxer Mike Tyson. However, when the developers of ''Street Fighter II'' were working on the overseas versions, they rotated the names of three of the boss characters for the English localization, fearing that naming the boxer character "Mike Bison" might be a legal liability.
