''Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank'' () is a 2024 Indian Hindi-language comedy horror film directed by Amar Kaushik, written by Niren Bhatt, and produced jointly by Maddock Films and Jio Studios. It is the fifth installment in the Maddock Supernatural Universe and serves as the sequel to '' Stree'' (2018). The film stars Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana. The narrative follows a group of friends who must defeat a malevolent entity abducting the women of Chanderi. Kaushik first expressed interest in developing a sequel to ''Stree'' in October 2018. By February 2022, Rao confirmed that the project was in development; however, original writers and producers Raj & DK were no longer involved, having parted ways with producer Dinesh Vijan over the rights to the franchise. Amar Kaushik
Amar Kaushik is an Indian director and actor working in Hindi cinema. He is best known for directing the critical and commercial blockbusters '' Stree'' (2018) and ''Bala'' (2019). Early life Amar Kaushik grew up in Medo, Arunachal Pradesh where his father was a forest ranger who worked for the Indian Forest Service and his mother Shashi was a school teacher. When he was 10 years old, the family moved to Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He later studied mass communications in Delhi and moved to Mumbai in 2006. In 2009, Kaushik was attacked on a bus by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena members who mistakenly believed he was director Anurag Kashyap. MNS leader Raj Thackeray had criticised Kashyap for calling his film ''Bombay Velvet'' and had unsuccessfully demanded that he change the name to ''Mumbai Velvet''. Chanderi, is a town of historical importance in Ashoknagar District of the state Madhya Pradesh in India. Maddock Supernatural Universe is an Indian shared universe consisting of Hindi-language supernatural horror comedy films. The film series began in 2018 with the release of '' Stree'', directed by Amar Kaushik and starring Rajkumar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor.
