Strathewen, Victoria
Strathewen is a town in Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia, 45 km north-east of Melbourne's Melbourne City Centre, Central Business District, located within the Shire of Nillumbik Local government areas of Victoria, local government area. Strathewen recorded a population of 198 at the 2021 Australian census, 2021 census. Strathewen is located near the Kinglake National Park. It is an apple and pear producing area and is home to small local vineyards and wineries. History Strathewen Post Office opened on 20 September 1909 and closed in 1964. The town was substantially destroyed during the Black Saturday bushfires on 7 February 2009, which destroyed the primary school, the old fire station, the community hall, and most of the houses in the area. Twenty-seven of its 200 residents died in the fires. Kinglake is a town in Victoria, Australia, north-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Shires of Murrindindi and Nillumbik local government areas. Kinglake recorded a population of 1,662 at the 2021 census. The town was one of the worst affected during the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009. Kinglake West is a town in Victoria, Australia, north-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Whittlesea and the Shires of Murrindindi and Nillumbik local government areas. The Shire of Nillumbik ( ) is a local government area in Victoria, Australia. It contains outer northern suburbs of Melbourne and rural localities beyond the urban area. 2021 Australian Census
The 2021 Australian census, simply called the 2021 Census, was the eighteenth national Census of Population and Housing in Australia. The 2021 Census took place on 10 August 2021, and was conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
