Strandhugg Paa Kavringen
''Strandhugg paa Kavringen'' (The Coastal Raid at Kavringen) is a 65-minute Norwegian film from 1923 that is now considered lost. The screenplay was written by Gunnar Nilsen-Vig, who was also one of the film's directors. Egil Sætren designed the sets, and Svein Lysell, Lizzie Florelius, Katja Wallier, and Leif Enger appeared in the main roles. Leif Enger was also responsible for makeup. The film also featured the Chat Noir ballet. The plot has several similarities to Ludvig Holberg's well-known comedy ''Jeppe on the Hill''. Plot A poor man is sent by his wife to buy fish. On the way to the fish market, he gets drunk, using the money he was supposed to buy the fish with. The man does not dare go home without fish, and he steals a small boat with fishing gear to try his luck. He does not catch any fish, and he drinks the rest of the alcohol he has left before he falls asleep in the boat. Trygve Dalseg
Olaf Trygve Dalseg (15 September 1898 – 12 April 1987) was a Norwegian marketing agent. He was born in Ringebu. He worked for the magazine ''Hjemmet'' and newspaper ''Morgenbladet'' and was also involved in film (directing the now-lost 1923 film ''Strandhugg paa Kavringen'') before starting a career in marketing and advertising. His own marketing agency was named Dalseg Promotion. He was also affiliated with Institute of Marketing (), and was an honorary member of Norwegian Association of Advertising Agencies who owned the Institute. He received an honorary medal from the Nordic association in 1956. Gunnar Nilsen-Vig
Gunnar Nilsen-Vig (September 20, 1886 – July 8, 1959) was a Norwegian cinematographer, scriptwriter, and film director. Nilsen-Vig came into contact with the director Rasmus Breistein via the company Kommunenes Filmcentral. He became Breistein's permanent cinematographer and was involved in most of Breistein's films, from '' Fante-Anne'' (1920) to ''Trysil-Knut'' (1942). He also worked as a cinematographer for other directors, including for the Norwegian–German film ''The Woman in the Advocate's Gown'' (1929, directed by Adolf Trotz). In 1923, Nilsen-Vig directed his only film, '' Strandhugg paa Kavringen'' (now considered lost), together with Trygve Dalseg. Jeppe On The Hill
''Jeppe on the Hill; Or, The Transformed Peasant'' ( da, Jeppe på bjerget) is a Danish comedy by the Norwegian playwright Ludvig Holberg, written during the time of the Dano-Norwegian dual monarchy. The play premiered at the Lille Grønnegade Theatre in 1722, and was first published in print in 1723. The play has a special status in Danish theater, and playing the lead role, Jeppe, is seen as a great distinction. Because this, it was entered into the Danish Culture Canon in 2006. Despite its fame in Denmark, it is not well known in the English-speaking world. In the play, Jeppe is a drunkard peasant who is abused by his wife, Nille. The Baron and his court find him in a drunken stupor and decide to play a joke on Jeppe. A well-known quotation from the work is from Jeppe's soliloquy early in the play, where he says, "Everybody says that Jeppe drinks, but nobody asks why Jeppe drinks", rationalizing his alcohol abuse as a sensible reaction to his miserable life. Ludvig Holberg
Ludvig Holberg, Baron of Holberg (3 December 1684 – 28 January 1754) was a writer, essayist, philosopher, historian and playwright born in Bergen, Norway, during the time of the Dano-Norwegian dual monarchy. He was influenced by Humanism, the Enlightenment and the Baroque. Holberg is considered the founder of modern Danish and Norwegian literature. He is best known for the comedies he wrote in 1722–1723 for the Lille Grønnegade Theatre in Copenhagen. Holberg's works about natural and common law were widely read by many Danish law students over two hundred years, from 1736 to 1936. Studies and teaching Holberg was the youngest of six brothers. His father, Christian Nielsen Holberg, died before Ludvig was one year old. He was educated in Copenhagen, and was a teacher at the University of Copenhagen for many years.
