Arthur Newell Strahler (February 20, 1918 – December 6, 2002) was a geoscience professor at Columbia University who in 1952 developed the Strahler Stream Order system for classifying streams according to the power of their tributaries. Mike Strahler
Michael Wayne Strahler (March 14, 1947 – July 14, 2016) was an American baseball player who played as a pitcher in the Major League Baseball. He pitched from 1970 to 1973 for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Detroit Tigers. He was traded from the 1973 Detroit Tigers season, Tigers to the Milwaukee Brewers for Ray Newman at the Winter Meetings on December 6, 1973. Strahler died on July 14, 2016, aged 69. Adolf Straehler
Adolf Straehler (also Strähler) (10. December 1829 – 12 February 1897) was a Silesian forester and botanist. Life Straehler was born in Szczawno-Zdrój (Salzbrunn), Lower Silesian, Poland. He first attended his local village school, before attending the secondary school in Kamienna Góra (Landeshut), where he was taught by Conrector Höger who cultivated Straehler's life-long interest of flora. He completed a forestry apprenticeship in Unisław Śląski (Langwaltersdorf) and then undertook military service in the Garde-Jäger-Bataillon. After completing his service, Straehler was employed as a forestry assistant at Pszczyna (Pless) and Glinik Nowy (Neuhain). In 1858 he was transferred to Sokołowsko (Görbersdorf) and promoted to the district's forester. In 1880, he became the chief forester at Leśniczówka Smolary (Theerkeute), and it is in Leśniczówka Smolary that he started to publish his studies of the local flora.
