Stout, William
William Stout (born September 18, 1949) is an American fantasy artist and illustrator with a specialization in paleontological art. His paintings have been shown in over seventy exhibitions, including twelve one-man shows. He has worked on over thirty feature films, doing everything from storyboard art to production design. He has designed theme parks and has worked in radio with the Firesign Theatre. Biography Comics and music industry In 1973 Stout began drawing album covers for the Trademark of Quality bootleg record label. He created 42 sleeves for the label and its subsidiaries, including the Rolling Stones' ''All-Meat Music'' (his first), the Yardbirds' ''Golden Eggs'' and ''More Golden Eggs'', and the Who's ''Who's Zoo'' and ''Tales from the Who''. Trademark Of Quality
In the music industry, Trade Mark of Quality (abbreviated TMOQ or TMQ) was a bootleg record label based in Los Angeles, California, during the late 1960s and early 1970s. The label was responsible for many underground records of Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane, Devo, Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Frank Zappa, The Rolling Stones, The Who and many other rock artists of the era. Trade Mark of Quality was established in 1970 by "Dub" Taylor and Ken Douglas. They were quality-conscious perfectionists who pressed many of their albums on colored, virgin vinyl, and possibly the first bootleggers to start producing printed picture covers, and later color picture covers, rather than paper inserts. ''The Smithereens Play Tommy'' is the tenth studio album by Carteret, New Jersey-based rock band The Smithereens, released on 5 May 2009 by E1 Music. The album features the band covering highlights from The Who's 1969 concept album, ''Tommy'', creating an abridged version of the original story. The Smithereens edited the original album's 24 selections down to 13 songs, with a total running time of 41 minutes, compared to the original's 75 minutes. It is The Smithereens' fourth cover album in a row, following two albums devoted entirely to Beatles songs (''Meet The Smithereens!'' and ''B-Sides The Beatles'') and an album of Christmas-themed songs (''Christmas with The Smithereens''). ''Beatlesongs'' was a 1982 compilation album, released by Rhino Records, containing novelty songs and parodies of the music of the Beatles. The original cover (designed by underground comic and occasional album-cover artist William Stout) was subject of a public outcry as it featured a caricature of Mark David Chapman, the man who murdered John Lennon less than two years earlier. Chapman is pictured on the far left of the cover holding the end of the banner. The Ramones
The Ramones were an American punk rock band that formed in the New York City neighborhood of Forest Hills, Queens, in 1974. They are often cited as the first true punk rock group. Despite achieving a limited commercial appeal in the United States during their time together, the band saw more success in England and Brazil, and are today seen as highly influential. All of the band members adopted pseudonyms ending with the surname "Ramone", although none of them were biologically related; they were inspired by Paul McCartney, who would check into hotels as "Paul Ramon". The Ramones performed 2,263 concerts, touring virtually nonstop for 22 years. In 1996, after a tour with the Lollapalooza music festival, they played a farewell concert in Los Angeles and disbanded. ''Rock 'n' Roll High School'' is a 1979 American musical comedy film directed by Allan Arkush, produced by Michael Finnell, and starring P. J. Soles, Vince Van Patten, Clint Howard, and Dey Young. The film featured the punk rock group Ramones. Plot The film is set in 1980. Vince Lombardi High School keeps losing principals to nervous breakdowns because of the students' love of rock 'n' roll and their disregard for education. The leader of the students, Riff Randell, is the biggest Ramones fan at the school and also the worst behavioral problem, in that her disciplinary record fills an entire filing cabinet. ''Heavy Metal'' is an American science fiction and fantasy fiction, fantasy comics magazine, published beginning in 1977. The magazine is known primarily for its blend of dark fantasy/science fiction, erotica and steampunk comics. Unlike the traditional American comic books of that time bound by the restrictive Comics Code Authority, ''Heavy Metal'' featured explicit content.
