Store Fornestinden
Store Fornestinden is a mountain in Tromsø Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The highest peak of any mountain in the eastern part of the municipality. The tall mountain lies about east of the city of Tromsø and about west of the village of Lyngseidet in the neighboring Lyngen Municipality. The mountain is on the southern shore of the Kjosen fjord, an arm of the large Ullsfjorden. The mountain consists of two peaks, the highest being Store Fornestinden at . Lyngen Alps
The Lyngen Alps ( no, Lyngsalpene) are a mountain range in northeastern Troms og Finnmark county in Norway, east of the Tromsø (city), city of Tromsø. The mountain range runs through the municipalities of Lyngen, Balsfjord, and Storfjord. The mountains follow the western shore of the Lyngen (fjord), Lyngen fjord in a north-south direction. Geoffrey Hastings
Geoffrey Hastings (1860–1941) was a British mountaineer who made numerous first ascents of rock-faces and peaks in the Lake District, the Alps and Norway, and helped to lay the foundations for mountain-climbing as a sport. He, Albert Mummery and J. Norman Collie were authoritatively considered to be the finest climbing trio of their day and were the first to attempt to reach the summit of an eight-thousander in the Himalaya. Lyngseidet (also sme, Ivgumuotki or fkv, Yykeänmuotka) is the administrative centre of Lyngen Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The village is located on an isthmus that is about wide between an arm of the Ullsfjorden and the Lyngenfjorden. The village is home to two grocery stores, Lyngen Church, nursing home, schools, daycare, pharmacy and library. A nine meter tall plastic figure Santa Claus named Gollis is also located here. Ullsfjorden
or is a fjord in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The fjord runs through the municipalities of Tromsø, Karlsøy, and Lyngen. The fjord flows from the village of Sjøvassbotn northwards along the west side of the Lyngen Peninsula (where the famous Lyngen Alps are located). The Kjosen fjord branches off to the east side and the Grøtsundet strait branches off to the west (which then flows into the Tromsøysundet).
