Stoneage Cameos
''Stoneage Cameos'' is a Hoodoo Gurus tribute album by various artists, released by Shock Records in August 2005 '' The Age'' described the album as containing ''"a who's who of Australian bands"'' each playing a song from the Hoodoo Gurus' 1984 debut '' Stoneage Romeos'', arranged in the album's original playlist order. The project was masterminded by Wally Kempton (bassist of the band Even), and Jason "Evo" Evans. Dallas Crane are a triple ARIA Award nominated Australian alternative rock band from Melbourne. Their self-titled third album was released on 10 July 2004, and peaked in the ARIA Albums Chart top 50. The Drones (Australian Band)
The Drones were an Australian rock band, formed in Perth by mainstay lead vocalist and guitarist Gareth Liddiard in 1997. Fiona Kitschin, his domestic partner, joined on bass guitar and vocals in 2002. Other long-term members include Rui Pereira on bass guitar and then lead guitar; Mike Noga on drums, vocals, harmonica and percussion; and Dan Luscombe on lead guitar, vocals and keyboards. Their second album, '' Wait Long by the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By'' (April 2005), won the inaugural Australian Music Prize. Grinspoon are an Australian Rock music, rock band from Lismore, New South Wales, formed in 1995 and fronted by Phil Jamieson on vocals and guitar with Pat Davern on guitar, Joe Hansen on bass guitar and Kristian Hopes on drums. Also in 1995, Grinspoon won the Triple J-sponsored Unearthed (talent contest), Unearthed competition for Lismore, with their post-grunge song "Grinspoon (EP), Sickfest". The name "Grinspoon" was taken from Lester Grinspoon, Dr. Lester Grinspoon, an associate professor emeritus of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, who supported marijuana for medical use. It was released in June 1983 as the second single from their debut studio album, ''Stoneage Romeos''. It was written by their lead singer-guitarist, Dave Faulkner (musician), Dave Faulkner. It was also featured on their first album ''Stoneage Romeos'' (1984), which was produced by Alan Thorne. Tojo in the title refers to the World War II Japanese General and Prime Minister Hideki Tōjō. "Leilani" is the debut single by Australian rock group Hoodoo Gurus when they were called Le Hoodoo Gurus, released on Phantom Records in October 1982. It had been written by all four Gurus: James Baker, Dave Faulkner, Roddy Radalj and Kimble Rendall. Rendall left shortly before its release and, not long after, the band dropped the 'Le' to become Hoodoo Gurus. Le Hoodoo Gurus were noted for having three guitars and no bass player, creating a distinctive, layered sound. This was captured on "Leilani", which told the story of a maiden sacrificed to the gods and an erupting volcano while her true love looked on helplessly.
