Stokely Carmichael
Kwame Ture (; born Stokely Standiford Churchill Carmichael; June 29, 1941November 15, 1998) was a prominent organizer in the civil rights movement in the United States and the global pan-African movement. Born in Trinidad, he grew up in the United States from the age of 11 and became an activist while attending the Bronx High School of Science. He was a key leader in the development of the Black Power movement, first while leading the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), then as the "Honorary Prime Minister" of the Black Panther Party (BPP), and last as a leader of the All-African People's Revolutionary Party (A-APRP). Ture was one of the original SNCC freedom riders of 1961 under Diane Nash's leadership. He became a major voting rights activist in Mississippi and Alabama after being mentored by Ella Baker and Bob Moses. Samuel Stokely
Samuel Stokely (January 25, 1796 – May 23, 1861) was an American lawyer and politician who served one term as a U.S. Representative from Ohio from 1841 to 1843. Biography Born in Washington, Pennsylvania, Stokely attended private schools. He was graduated from Washington College (now Washington and Jefferson College), Washington, Pennsylvania, in 1813. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Steubenville, Ohio, in 1817. He was United States land receiver 1821–1833. He served as a member of the State senate in 1837 and 1838. Stokely was elected as a Whig to the Twenty-seventh Congress (March 4, 1841 – March 3, 1843). He resumed the practice of law in Steubenville, where he died May 23, 1861. He was interred in Union Cemetery. In April 1830, he married Rachel Mason. Scott Stokely is an American professional disc golfer, disc sports (frisbee) teacher, and author. Scott began playing disc golf in 1976 as a junior member of the Oak Grove Gophers at the World's first permanent Disc Golf Course in Pasadena, California. Stokely published an instructional book and videos about disc golf throwing techniques in 2001 and the first Disc Golf autobiography "Scott Stokely: Growing Up Disc Golf" in January 2020.
