Scott Stokely
Scott Stokely is an American professional disc golfer, disc sports (frisbee) teacher, and author. Scott began playing disc golf in 1976 as a junior member of the Oak Grove Gophers at the World's first permanent Disc Golf Course in Pasadena, California. Stokely published an instructional book and videos about disc golf throwing techniques in 2001 and the first Disc Golf autobiography "Scott Stokely: Growing Up Disc Golf" in January 2020. Early life Spending much of his childhood free time at Oak Grove Disc Golf Course gave Scott Stokely the unique opportunity to be mentored by Disc Golf Legends such as: Joe Ursino, Geoff and Johnny Lissaman, Mark Horn, Dan "Stork" Roddick, and Paul Harris. Frisbee
A frisbee (pronounced ), also called a flying disc or simply a disc, is a gliding toy or sporting item that is generally made of injection-molded plastic and roughly in diameter with a pronounced lip. It is used recreationally and competitively for throwing and catching, as in flying disc games. The shape of the disc is an airfoil in cross-section which allows it to fly by reducing the drag and increasing lift as it moves through the air, compared to a flat plate. Spinning the disc imparts a stabilizing gyroscopic force, allowing it to be both aimed with accuracy and thrown for distance. A wide range is available of flying disc variants. The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is the international governing body for flying disc (Frisbee) sports, with responsibility for sanctioning world championship events, establishing uniform rules, setting of standards for and recording of world records. Discraft
Discraft is a company that originated in 1978 in London, Ontario. It was started by a group of disc sport enthusiasts including Jim Kenner, Gail McColl,Chris and Mary Greenwood and Wallace Kenny. In 1979 Jim and Gail moved to Michigan and started what is now Discraft Inc. It was originally in Westland, MI but is now located in Wixom, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. They are a manufacturer of flying discs for the sports of Ultimate, Disc Golf and Freestyle. The company does not have any retail stores, but rather sells large quantities of discs to resellers and wholesalers around the world. Discraft's 175-gram Ultra-Star disc is the only official disc that is ''USA Ultimate Championship Series Approved'' by the Ultimate Players Association.
