Stoke Bruerne
Stoke Bruerne is a small village and civil parish in West Northamptonshire, England about north of Milton Keynes and south of Northampton. The civil parish population at the 2011 Census was 373. History Stoke Bruerne is mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086 as "Stoche" meaning "an outlying farmstead or hamlet". The form "Stokbruer" is used in 1254 being a suffix by the "Briwere" family of the Manor House. The village is fairly typical for this area of south Northamptonshire containing many traditional stone and thatched cottages. The village's main claim to fame is its situation on the Grand Union Canal making it a favourite destination for tourists. The population is split 196 male and 199 female in 169 households ( 2001 census). The parish is currently governed as part of West Northamptonshire. Shutlanger
Shutlanger is a small village and civil parish in south Northamptonshire, England. The village is east of Towcester and south of Northampton. The village's name means 'Shuttle sloping-wood', maybe alluding to where transports, bolts or bars were made or acquired. In 1881 Shutlanger parish's total population was 403. In 1901 it was 339 and by 1971 it had dropped to 233. At the time of the 2001 census, it was 270 people, increasing to 290 at the 2011 census. There was a great medieval house here called the Monastery, but it was just a house and not a monastery in the normal sense. The village is close to Stoke Park Pavilions and originally part of the Stoke Park estate with the first Palladian-style English country house. The building is a Grade I listed Building. Stratford-upon-Avon And Midland Junction Railway
Stratford-upon-Avon (), commonly known as just Stratford, is a market town and civil parish in the Stratford-on-Avon district, in the county of Warwickshire, in the West Midlands region of England. It is situated on the River Avon, north-west of London, south-east of Birmingham and south-west of Warwick. The town is the southernmost point of the Arden area on the edge of the Cotswolds. Stoke Bruern Railway Station
Stoke Bruern railway station was on the Stratford-upon-Avon, Towcester and Midland Junction Railway which opened on 1 December 1892 near the Northamptonshire village of Stoke Bruerne after which it was misnamed. Passenger services were withdrawn on 31 March 1893. It is arguable that Stoke Bruern along with Salcey Forest have a claim to have had the shortest passenger service of any British railway station. On the first service, it was reported that one person alighted at Salcey Forest, but no-one joined, whilst at Stoke Bruern, seven joined and one alighted. The service attracted no more than twenty passengers a week and the SMJ incurred a loss of £40. The station was situated in a sparsely populated area and only saw passenger services for four months, despite the railway company's optimism which saw substantial station facilities provided in the expectation of traffic which never came. Grafton Regis is a village and civil parish in the south of the English county of Northamptonshire. The population of the civil parish (including Alderton) at the 2001 census was 152.
