Stockhorn
The Stockhorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking the region of Lake Thun in the Bernese Oberland. It is located north of the town of Erlenbach im Simmental. The Stockhorn is high and is accessible via cable car from Erlenbach. It has a restaurant at the top and is a good starting point for many hikes. There is good fishing in the two lakes right below the Stockhorn, the Oberstockensee (around high) and the Hinterstockensee (around high). There is a subterranean water connection between the two lakes. From the top the view includes many of the surrounding Alps; the Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau, Schreckhorn, along with the valley of the Aare river, Thun and Lake Thun, Interlaken and the Jura Mountains. Oberstockensee
Oberstockensee is a small lake in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland. Its surface area is {{convert, 11.8, ha, abbr=on. The lake is located above the village of Erlenbach im Simmental, below Stockhorn. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the "Oberstockensee" was often called the ''Vorderstockensee'' and/or ''Spetbaerglisee.'' Local residents still refer to it as the "Spetbaerglisee." Vorderstocken and Spetbaergli are the two alpine meadows that are on opposite sides of the lake. Bernese Oberland
The Bernese Oberland ( en, Bernese Highlands, german: Berner Oberland; gsw, Bärner Oberland; french: Oberland bernois), the highest and southernmost part of the canton of Bern, is one of the canton's five administrative regions (in which context it is referred to as ''Oberland'' without further specification). Erlenbach Im Simmental
Erlenbach im Simmental is a Municipalities of Switzerland, municipality in the district of Niedersimmental (district), Niedersimmental in the Cantons of Switzerland, canton of Bern (canton), Bern in Switzerland. History Erlenbach im Simmental is first mentioned in 1180-81 as ''Arlunbach''. The oldest trace of humans in the area is the Paleolithic Chilchlihöhle cave. Jungfrau
The Jungfrau ( "maiden, virgin"), at is one of the main summits of the Bernese Alps, located between the northern canton of Bern and the southern canton of Valais, halfway between Interlaken and Fiesch. Together with the Eiger and Mönch, the Jungfrau forms a massive wall of mountains overlooking the Bernese Oberland and the Swiss Plateau, one of the most distinctive sights of the Swiss Alps. The summit was first reached on August 3, 1811, by the Meyer brothers of Aarau and two chamois hunters from Valais. The ascent followed a long expedition over the glaciers and high passes of the Bernese Alps. It was not until 1865 that a more direct route on the northern side was opened.
