Stikeman Elliott LLP is a Canadian business law firm founded in 1952 by H. Heward Stikeman and Fraser Elliott. The firm has offices located in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver, New York, London and Sydney. Since 2021, the firm's chairman is Jeffrey Singer. History Heward Stikeman and Fraser Elliott established a tax boutique firm in Montreal in 1952. The firm expanded throughout the ensuing years, eventually becoming a full-service business law firm. Stikeman Elliott has never merged with another firm, one of the few Bay Street firms to not do so. When it expanded to Toronto in 1970, two new partners were added, Donald Bowman and John Robarts, and the Toronto office became Stikeman, Elliott, Robarts and Bowman. Roy Fraser Elliott, (November 25, 1921 – January 26, 2005) was a Canadian lawyer, supporter of the arts, and philanthropist. Early life and education Elliott was born in Ottawa, Ontario, a son to Colin Fraser Elliott (at one time, the Deputy Minister of Finance of Canada) and Marjorie Sypher. His younger sister, Marjorie Elliott Sypher, served as the First Lady of Costa Rica from 1974 to 1978. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1943 from Queen's University, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1946, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration in 1947. Marc Miller (born March 12, 1973) is a Canadian politician who was elected to represent the riding of Ville-Marie—Le Sud-Ouest—Île-des-Sœurs in the House of Commons in the 2015 election. Joseph Antonio Charles Lamer (July 8, 1933 – November 24, 2007) was a Canadian lawyer, jurist and the 16th Chief Justice of Canada. Career Lamer practised in partnership at the firm of Cutler, Lamer, Bellemare and Associates and was a full professor in the Faculty of Law, Université de Montréal, where he was also a lecturer in criminology.
