Stig Mårtensson (tennis)
Stig Mårtensson (8 April 1913 – 17 November 1995) was a Swedish tennis player. Tennis career Mårtensson represented Sweden in one Davis Cup tie, the 1937 Europe Zone quarterfinal tie against Belgium played at the Royal Léopold Club in Brussels. Mårtensson and Kalle Schröder played the singles rubbers, with Mårtensson losing his first match against Charles Naeyaert and thereafter also his second match against André Lacroix. Mårtensson played at the 1937 Wimbledon Championships, losing in the first round of both the singles and doubles events. In 1943 he won the singles title at the Swedish National Outdoor championships and in 1948 he won the singles title at the tournament in Bude, beating David Warwick, 4–6, 6–2, 6–4 in the final. Kalle Schröder
Karl Kristian Anton 'Kalle' Schröder (30 October 1913 – 9 June 1982) was a Swedish tennis player. Tennis career Schröder made his debut for Sweden in the Davis Cup during 1935 against Ireland. He teamed-up with Curt Östberg to defeat the Irish, 3–2 in the second qualifying round, but the pair lost to the Netherlands in the final qualifying round. Between 1935 and 1939, Schröder played a total of 26 Davis Cup matches for Sweden and won 17 of these. His last Davis Cup tie was the 1939 Europe Zone Quarterfinals against Germany. Schröder and doubles partner, Nils Rohlsson were victories against the German pair of Henner Henkel and Georg von Metaxa, but in the singles he and Morgan Hultman lost both of their respective singles matches, giving Germany a 4–1 victory. Bude (; kw, Porthbud) is a seaside town in north east Cornwall, England, in the civil parish of Bude-Stratton and at the mouth of the River Neet (also known locally as the River Strat). The 1937 Wimbledon Championships took place on the outdoor grass courts at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London, United Kingdom. The tournament was held from Monday 21 June until Saturday 3 July 1937. It was the 57th staging of the Wimbledon Championships, and the third Grand Slam tennis event of 1937. Don Budge and Dorothy Round won the singles title. This was the first Wimbledon tournament during the reign of King George VI. Television This edition marked the first time that the Wimbledon Championships were televised by the BBC.
