''Sticks and Stones'' is the debut studio album of American country music artist Tracy Lawrence. Released in 1991 on Atlantic Records, it produced four singles: the title track, "Today's Lonely Fool", "Runnin' Behind", and "Somebody Paints the Wall", which peaked at #1, #3, #4, and #8, respectively, on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts between 1991 and 1993. The track "Paris, Tennessee" was later recorded by Dennis Robbins (one of the co-writers) on his 1992 album ''Man with a Plan'' and by Kenny Chesney on his 1995 album '' All I Need to Know''. "Somebody Paints the Wall" was previously recorded by Josh Logan on his 1988 album of the same name, from which it was released as a single that year. Tracy Lee Lawrence (born January 27, 1968) is an American country music singer, songwriter, and record producer. Born in Atlanta, Texas, and raised in Foreman, Arkansas, Lawrence began performing at age 15 and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1990 to begin his country music career. He signed to Atlantic Records Nashville in 1991 and made his debut late that year with the album ''Sticks and Stones''. Five more studio albums, as well as a live album and a compilation album, followed throughout the 1990s and into 2000 on Atlantic before the label's country division was closed in 2001. Josh Logan (born in Cartersville, Kentucky) is an American country music artist. He has recorded four albums, including one for the Curb Records label in 1988. This album, ''Somebody Paints the Wall'', included three chart singles, two of which were later released by other artists as well: the title track by Tracy Lawrence, and "I Was Born with a Broken Heart" by Aaron Tippin, who also co-wrote it. Brent Rowan (born May 28, 1956 in Waxahachie, Texas) is an American session musician and record producer who works primarily in country music. Active since the 1970s, Rowan began working with John Conlee through the recommendation of record producer Bud Logan. Rowan first played on Conlee's "Friday Night Blues", and later became the only guitarist for Conlee's recordings. Dobro is an American brand of resonator guitars, currently owned by Gibson (guitar company), Gibson and manufactured by its subsidiary Epiphone. The term "dobro" is also used as a generic term for any wood-bodied, single-cone resonator guitar. A steel guitar ( haw, kīkākila) is any guitar played while moving a steel bar or similar hard object against plucked strings. The bar itself is called a "steel" and is the source of the name "steel guitar". The instrument differs from a conventional guitar in that it is played without using frets; conceptually, it is somewhat akin to playing a guitar with one finger (the bar). Known for its portamento capabilities, gliding smoothly over every pitch between notes, the instrument can produce a sinuous crying sound and deep vibrato emulating the human singing voice. Bruce Bouton is an American guitarist, session musician, producer, and songwriter. His pedal steel guitar has been featured on many country music recordings, and he helped reintroduce the pedal steel guitar to the forefront of the Nashville sound. Biography Bouton began playing pedal steel in 1973 while studying at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He played with a number of local ensembles, including the Good Humor Band.
