Jacky "Jake" Yip (born January 7, 1998), better known as Stewie2K, is an American streamer and professional '' Counter-Strike: Global Offensive'' player. As a member of Cloud9, he became the first North American (along with four of his teammates) to win a Valve–sponsored major in CS:GO. Early life Yip was born on January 7, 1998. Raised in San Francisco, California, he picked up '' Counter-Strike'' 1.6 from his older brother, Jason. Yip grew up with his brother and sister. His parents were often on business trips in China. Yip described his parents as "stereotypical Asian parents" who disapproved of video games, wanting him take up a "common" career such as a lawyer or a doctor. His draw towards video games ultimately created a rift between him and his parents, with Yip recalling his mother believing he was going to be a failure. ESL One Cologne 2019
ESL One Cologne 2019 is a '' Counter-Strike: Global Offensive'' tournament run by ESL. In July 2019, sixteen teams from around the globe competed in an offline ( LAN) tournament that featured a group stage and playoffs with a US$300,000 prize pool. This event and Intel Extreme Masters Season XIV - Chicago were the last events before teams playing at StarLadder Major: Berlin 2019 took a month break before heading to the Major. This tournament is the fifth tournament of the second season of the Intel Grand Slam, which a list of international premier tournaments run by ESL and DreamHack. Each team gets ten tournaments that it participates in to have a chance at winning four of them. The first team to win four titles earns an extra $1,000,000. ESL Pro League Season 9 (shortened as EPL Season 9) was a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament run by ESL. It was the ninth season of the ESL Pro League. Teams from five continents – North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America – competed in four leagues to attempt to qualify for the Finals. The regular season started on April 12, 2019, and ended in June 2019. This season was also the fourth tournament of the Intel Grand Slam Season 2. The EPL Finals took place in Montpellier, France. The finals for ESL Pro League Season 9 featured G2 Esports, which defeated FaZe Clan and NRG Esports en route to the grand finals, and Team Liquid, which defeated Astralis and mousesports. Sean Michael Gares, better known as sgares or Seang@res, is an American professional retired '' Counter-Strike: Global Offensive'' player, esports commentator and the former head coach of 100 Thieves' Valorant roster.
