Steven Yazzie
Steven Yazzie (born 1970) is a Native American artist, who is enrolled in the Navajo Nation and of Laguna Pueblo descent of his father's side. He creates video art and installation environments but described painting as his first and most important medium. Personal life Yazzie was born in Newport Beach, California, during 1970 and has three younger brothers. His parents divorced when he was four and less than a year later his mother married to a Navajo man. When he was six years old Yazzie's stepfather moved the family to an Arizona reservation in Black Mesa. Yazzie later joined the Marine Corps and participated in the first Gulf War, in Desert Storm and Desert Shield. When he returned Yazzie discovered that his paternal grandfather had participated in World War II as a code-talker. His grandfather has inspired and been included in many pieces. Cherokee
The Cherokee (; chr, ᎠᏂᏴᏫᏯᎢ, translit=Aniyvwiyaʔi or Anigiduwagi, or chr, ᏣᎳᎩ, links=no, translit=Tsalagi) are one of the indigenous peoples of the Southeastern Woodlands of the United States. Skowhegan () is the county seat of Somerset County, Maine. As of the 2020 census, the town population was 8,620.
