Steve Wilson (born February 9, 1961) is an American jazz multi-instrumentalist, who is best known in the musical community as a flutist and an alto and soprano saxophonist. He also plays the clarinet and the piccolo. Wilson performs on many different instruments and has performed and recorded on over twenty-five albums. His interests include folk, jazz, classical, world music, and experimental music. Wilson is currently on the faculty of New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts. He was elected as an American Champion by the National Flute Association. Wilson has maintained a busy career working as a session musician, and has contributed to many musicians of note both in the recording studios, but as a sideman on tours. Stephen Douglas Wilson (born December 13, 1964) is a Canadian former professional baseball player. A left-handed pitcher, he played all or part of six seasons in Major League Baseball. He is an alumnus of the University of Portland and participated in the 1983 Pan American Games and the 1984 Summer Olympics for Canada. In 1984, Steve pitched for the Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks summer amateur baseball club, where he was among 12 other players to eventually reach the major leagues. Wilson was drafted by the Texas Rangers in 1985 in the 4th round, 83rd overall, and went on to make his Major League Baseball debut with the Texas Rangers on September 16, 1988. On December 5, 1988, Wilson was traded from the Rangers to the Chicago Cubs with Paul Kilgus, Curtis Wilkerson, and Mitch Williams for Rafael Palmeiro, Jamie Moyer, and Drew Hall. Currently running his own nonprofit investigative reporting group, he is best known for his whistleblower lawsuit with then-wife Jane Akre against WTVT in 1997 and his work as WXYZ-TV's Chief Investigative Reporter in Detroit, Michigan in the late 2000s. Professional life Wilson began his news career offering investigative news reports to various outlets in the 1980s. Steven Christopher Wilson (born August 24, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2022. Amateur career Wilson attended Dakota Ridge High School in Littleton, Colorado. In 2012, as a senior, he went 7–1 with a 2.66 ERA while batting .462 with seven home runs.
