Steve Rotheram
Steven Philip Rotheram (born 4 November 1961) is a British Labour Party politician who is the Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region. He previously served as the MP for Liverpool Walton from 2010 to 2017. Rotheram was born in Liverpool and left school to become a bricklayer, setting up his own company at the age of 22. He started a Masters in Contemporary Urban Renaissance at Liverpool Hope University. He worked as a Business Manager for the Learning and Skills Council and represented Fazakerley as a councillor on Liverpool City Council. Rotheram was the Member of Parliament for Liverpool Walton from 2010 to 2017. He also served as the Lord Mayor of Liverpool from 2008 to 2009 and a Councillor for Fazakerley from 2002 to 2011. Rotheram was the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn's Parliamentary Private Secretary. Rotheram won a majority vote in the Liverpool City Region mayoral election 2017 and was re-elected in 2021. Kirkby High School
Kirkby High School is a Knowsley based co-educational secondary school educating pupils aged 11–16 years of age in the Kirkby area of Merseyside, England. History Previously known as 'Brookfield High School', in 2008 the school was merged with Ruffwood School to form 'Kirkby Sports College Centre for Learning' on the site of Brookfield. The school was completely rebuilt under the Building Schools for the Future programme. In September 2013 the school converted to academy status and was renamed Kirkby High School. 2021 Liverpool City Region Mayoral Election
The second Liverpool City Region mayoral election was held in May 2021 to elect the mayor of the Liverpool City Region, alongside other local elections across England and Wales, to elect councillors, the mayor of Liverpool, and police and crime commissioners across the city region. The election was originally due to take place in May 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Background The position of Mayor of the Liverpool City Region was created in 2017 following a devolution deal between the UK government and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA). The inaugural Liverpool City Region mayoral election was held on 4 May 2017 to elect the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and won by Steve Rotheram.
