Steve Morrison (footballer)
Steve Morrison (born 15 August 1961) is a Scottish former footballer manager of East Stirlingshire who play association football in the Scottish Football League Third Division. He was assisted by former Rangers and Everton defender Alex Cleland. Morrison replaced Danny Divers, whom he had previously assisted, in March 2003. He was succeeded by Dennis Newell following his resignation on April 2004 after failing to get the Shire off the bottom of the league. He also had an eight-month stint as manager at Clydebank. As a player, he played in midfield for numerous Scottish clubs, most notably Dunfermline Athletic Dunfermline Athletic Football Club is a Scottish football club based in the city of Dunfermline, Fife. Scottish Football League Third Division
The Scottish Football League Third Division was the fourth tier of the Scottish football league system between 1994 and 2013. History The Scottish football league system had operated with three divisions in the Scottish Football League (SFL) from 1975. In 1994, as part of reconstruction to allow the admission of Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Ross County to the league, the SFL was recalibrated to give four divisions of 10 teams. The fourth tier was named the Third Division. In 1998, the Premier Division (top flight) clubs broke away to form the Scottish Premier League (SPL). The Third Division continued as the fourth tier of the league system, but was now the third tier of the SFL. In 2013, the SFL and SPL merged to form the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL). Dennis Newell
Dennis Newall is the former manager of East Stirlingshire who play association football in the Scottish Third Division. When he was named as successor to Stevie Morrison in March 2004, Newall became the first unpaid manager in senior football. He also managed Scottish junior sides Cumbernauld United and Lesmahagow, and coached at senior side Albion Rovers. Alex Cleland
Alexander Cleland (born 10 December 1970) is a Scottish professional football player and coach. Cleland played as a defender for Scottish sides Rangers and Dundee United and English team Everton. Although never capped at senior level for Scotland, he did make eleven appearances for the under-21 team. After retiring from football, he moved into coaching, having two spells as caretaker boss at Livingston and twice at St Johnstone. Playing career Cleland started his career with Dundee United, signing as a youth player in 1986. He soon established himself in the reserve team and made his first team debut against Morton in April 1988. By 1990 he was a first team regular, but then broke a leg twice within a few months.
