Steve Herberman
Steve Herberman (born September 10, 1966) is an American jazz guitarist and educator. Career Herberman is a graduate of Berklee College of Music. In 1993, he adopted the seven-string guitar. He has performed across the United States and Europe. In the US he has performed at venues such as Birdland and The Bar Next Door in New York City, Spazio in Los Angeles, the NAMM shows in Anaheim and Nashville. Closer to his home near Washington DC he has performed at Blues Alley, the Smithsonian Jazz Cafe, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Herberman has played with Keter Betts, Buster Williams, Gary Bartz, Drew Gress, Chuck Berghofer, Jim Snidero, Chuck Redd, Ali Ryerson, Steve Williams, Steve LaSpina, Jeff Hirshfield, and John Pisano. As educator Herberman taught at Towson University in Baltimore for fourteen years as an adjunct faculty member. Gary Bartz
Gary Bartz (born September 26, 1940) is an American jazz saxophonist. He has won two Grammy Awards. Biography Bartz studied at the Juilliard School. In the early 1960s, he performed with Eric Dolphy and McCoy Tyner in Charles Mingus' Jazz Workshop. He worked as a sideman with Max Roach and Abbey Lincoln before joining Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. In 1968, he was a member of McCoy Tyner's band, Expansions. In mid-1970, he joined Miles Davis' band, performing live at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970, Isle Of Wight festival in August; and at a series of December dates at The Cellar Door club in Washington, D.C. Jeff Hirshfield
Jeffrey Lee Hirshfield (born August 22, 1955) is an American jazz drummer. Hirshfield was born in New York City. He studied under Ed Soph. He worked for the Joffrey Ballet in 1976–1977 and then played with Mose Allison (1977–1979). During the 1980s he worked with Red Rodney and Ira Sullivan (1981–1985), Toshiko Akiyoshi (1986–1989), and Bennie Wallace (1987–1990). Alongside Fred Hersch and Steve LaSpina, he was a member of the trio ''Etc.'' during 1988–1991. During this time he also played in a trio with Hersch and Michael Formanek. Steve LaSpina
Steven Frank LaSpina (born March 24, 1954) is an American jazz bassist who plays both upright and electric bass. Life and career Steve LaSpina was born in Wichita Falls, Texas; his father and grandfather both played in dance bands. He attended the University of Illinois and DePaul University, and first began playing professionally in Chicago in the 1970s. He played with Bunky Green, Larry Novak, Joe Daley (1975–79), and Chet Baker (1978). In 1978 he also began working with Marian McPartland, with whom he would collaborate until 1986. He moved to New York City in 1979 and played with Mel Lewis's orchestra (1978–82), Stan Getz (1986-87), Jim Hall (from 1988), Andy LaVerne (from 1989), and Benny Carter (latter half of the 1990s). Ali Ryerson
Ali Ryerson (born 21 October 1952 in New York City) is a flutist with a background in both classical and jazz, as well as being an instructor. She has performed and toured worldwide with a wide range of artists including Billy Taylor, Kenny Barron, Stephane Grappelli, Frank Wess, Red Rodney, Laurindo Almeida, Art Farmer, Maxine Sullivan, Roy Haynes, and (as principal flutist with the Monterey Bay Symphony) with Luciano Pavarotti. She has also released numerous albums under her own name, as well as duo recordings with noted guitarist Joe Beck. Chuck Redd (born September 10, 1958) is an American jazz drummer and vibraphonist. Career Redd began touring and recording when he joined the Charlie Byrd Trio at the age of 21. He also joined The Great Guitars (Barney Kessel, Charlie Byrd, and Herb Ellis).
