Sterling Weatherford
Sterling Weatherford (born January 26, 1999) is an American football linebacker for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He was signed by the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2022 after playing college football at Miami (OH). College career Weatherford was a two-star prospect coming out of Hamilton Heights and committed to the Miami RedHawks on August 2, 2016. In his freshman season, he was named Defensive Scout Team Player of the Year, before playing in twelve games as a sophomore, starting one. In a game against Army, Weatherford recorded a career-high nine tackles. In 2019, he finished second on the team with ninety-eight tackles, helping Miami defeat Central Michigan for the MAC Championship. In 2021, he was named All-MAC 2nd Team Defense after recording sixty-six tackles, two interceptions, and a sack. In sports, the practice squad, also called the taxi squad or practice roster, is a group of players signed by a team but not part of their main roster. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. Because the players on the practice squad are familiar with the team's plays and formations, the practice squad serves as a way to develop inexperienced players for promotion to the main roster. This is particularly important for professional gridiron football teams, which do not have formal minor league farm team affiliates to train players. Matthew Montgomery Barkley (born September 8, 1990) is an American football quarterback for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at USC, and was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. The 2022 NFL Draft was the 87th edition of the National Football League's annual draft and was held from April 28–30, 2022, at the Caesars Forum on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada.
