2021 Mid-American Conference Football Season
The 2021 Mid-American Conference football season was the 76th season for the Mid-American Conference (MAC), as part of the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The provisional schedule was released on February 26, 2021. The season was scheduled to begin September 2, 2021, and ended with the MAC Football Championship Game on December 4, 2021. Previous season The 2020 Mid-American Conference football season saw a delayed start and shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with only 6 regular season games. The 2020 Buffalo Bulls football team, Buffalo Bulls won the East Division, while the 2020 Ball State Cardinals football team, Ball State Cardinals won the West Division. In the 2020 MAC Championship Game, the Cardinals defeated the Bulls 38–28. NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision
The NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), formerly known as Division I-A, is the highest level of college football in the United States. The FBS consists of the largest schools in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). As of 2022, there are 10 conferences and 131 schools in FBS. College football is one of the most popular spectator sports throughout much of the United States. The top schools generate tens of millions of dollars in yearly revenue. Kaleb Eleby (born March 13, 2000) is an American football quarterback for the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL. He played college football at Western Michigan. High school career Eleby attended Pattonville High School in Maryland Heights, Missouri. During his career he had 9,735 passing yards and 95 touchdowns. He committed to the Western Michigan University to play college football. College career Eleby entered his first year at Western Michigan in 2018 as a backup to Jon Wassink, before starting the final five games due to Wassink being injured. For the season he completed 92 of 147 passes for 1,092 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. After redshirting 2019, he took over as the full-time starter in 2020. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy has been awarded annually since 1993 to the collegiate American football defensive player adjudged by the membership of the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) to be the best in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Mike Caliendo (born October 21, 1997) is an American football guard for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Western Michigan and was signed by the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in . Early life and education Caliendo was born on October 21, 1997. He attended Brookfield East High School in Wisconsin where he was team captain as a senior. He was named the team's most valuable player as well as Associated Press first-team all-state following his final season on the team. Outland Trophy
The Outland Trophy is awarded to the best college football interior lineman in the United States as adjudged by the Football Writers Association of America. It is named after John H. Outland. One of only a few players ever to be named an All-American at two positions, Outland garnered consensus All-America honors in 1898 as a tackle and consensus honors as a halfback in 1899. Outland had always contended that football tackles and guards deserved greater recognition and conceived the Outland Trophy as a means of providing this recognition. Butkus Award
The Butkus Award, instituted in 1985 by the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando, is given annually to the top linebackers at the high school, collegiate and professional levels of football. The Dave Rimington Trophy is awarded to the player considered to be the best American football center in college football. Dave Rimington was a center who played at the University of Nebraska from 1979 to 1982. Arthur Lewis Nichols III (born August 16, 2001) is an American football running back for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Central Michigan. Bryant Nathaniel Koback (born April 6, 1998) is an American football running back who is a free agent. He played college football at Toledo and also was enrolled at Kentucky but he never played for the Wildcats. High school career Koback attended Springfield High School in Holland, Ohio. Since 1990 the Doak Walker Award honors the top running back in college football in the United States. It is named in honor of Doak Walker, a former running back who played for the SMU Mustangs from 1945 to 1949 and in the National Football League for the Detroit Lions from 1950 to 1955.
