Stereos
Stereos are a Canadian pop band from Edmonton, Alberta, formed in 2008. Their musical style fuses aspects of electronic music, rock, and pop. Their breakout came from appearing on the MuchMusic original series, '' disBAND''. In October 2009, they released their debut self-titled album, '' Stereos''. Biography 2008–2009: Early days and record deal The band formed roughly two years prior to its 2008 appearance on disBAND under the name Stand By Me. After meeting disBAND Guru Greig Nori, Stand By Me was advised to change their name due to copyright issues. Turn It Up was chosen. Later, in order to perform several shows in Toronto, Ontario, Universal Music Canada A&R rep Mark Spicoluk advised the band to change their name again, and the band chose the name Stereos. Summer Girl (Stereos Song)
"Summer Girl" is the debut single by Canadian pop music, pop band Stereos, written by Patrick Kordyback from their self-titled debut album. It was the song they performed on MuchMusic's disBAND reality show, which led them to being signed by Universal Music Group, Universal Canada. It was released as a single in 2009. The song is about meeting a girl and wanting to have a one night stand, despite the fact that both parties have a significant other. Music video In the music video, the band is first shown standing in front of a red car with the word ''Stereos'' displayed on the license plate as well as performing at a beach party. The lead singer is shown walking around a beach alongside two girls, and then attends the party later that night with one of them. Some of the judges on the episode of disBAND that the band was featured on can be seen talking to the lead singer at the party. Mark Spicoluk is a Canadian musician, lifestyle content creator, and entrepreneur. He is best known as the vocalist and bassist for the punk rock band Closet Monster and, since 2014, working with his wife on their lifestyle brand/YouTube channel Boho Beautiful. From 2012 to 2015 he appeared as a judge on YTV's ''The Next Star''. He is also known as the founder of the indie record label Underground Operations, playing bass with Avril Lavigne and his production credits on albums by artists such as Protest the Hero, Abandon All Ships, Stereos and DVBBS. Faber Drive is a four-piece Juno Award-nominated Canadian pop punk band from Mission, British Columbia, formed in 2004. The band consists of lead vocalist Dave Faber, lead guitarist Jordan Pritchett, bass guitarist Jeremy "Krikit" Liddle and drummer Seamus O'Neill. ''Disband'' (stylized as ''disBand'') is a Canadian reality show that was produced and broadcast by MuchMusic that gave aspiring music acts a chance to get big industry attention. It was hosted by either Sarah Taylor or Devon Soltendieck and was usually narrated by the lead singer of the featured band. Overview Each episode featured a band that was coached by a music industry veteran and at the end performed for a panel of judges. Greig Nori "The Guru" had made appearances as an adviser, and Ralph James, Jennifer Hirst, Colin Lewis, JDiggz, Hannah Simone, Mark Spicoluk, Katie Clark, and Matt Wells had appeared as judges. Hedley was a Canadian pop rock group that originated in Abbotsford, British Columbia, originally formed in 2003. They were named after the unincorporated community of Hedley, British Columbia, a name chosen after members heard that it was for sale for $346,000. Felicia Lily Dobson (born February 28, 1985) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. Born in Toronto, Ontario, she began performing as a teenager, during which time she received and refused an offer from Jive Records for a recording contract. Gene Simmons (born Chaim Witz; he, חיים ויץ, ; born August 25, 1949) is an Israeli-American musician. Also known by his stage persona The Demon, he is the bassist and co-lead singer of Kiss, the hard rock band he co-founded with Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss in the early 1970s.
