Stereophonics
Stereophonics are a Welsh rock band formed in 1992 in the village of Cwmaman in the Cynon Valley, Wales. The band consists of Kelly Jones (lead vocals, lead guitar, keyboards), Richard Jones (bass guitar, harmonica, backing vocals), Adam Zindani (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Jamie Morrison (drums, percussion) and touring member Tony Kirkham (keyboards). The group previously included Stuart Cable (1992–2003) and then Javier Weyler (2004–2012) on drums. Stereophonics have released twelve studio albums, including eight UK number one albums. A successful compilation album, ''Decade in the Sun'', was released in November 2008 and charted at number two on the UK Album Chart. Described as "classic UK rock delivered with whiskey vocals", the band have been summarised as possessing a sound akin to the genres of alternative rock and "British traditional rock". Graffiti On The Train
''Graffiti on the Train'' is the eighth studio album by Welsh rock band Stereophonics. Produced by the group's lead-singer and guitarist Kelly Jones and Jim Lowe, it was released on 4 March 2013 on their own Stylus Records. It was the first Stereophonics album since '' Keep Calm and Carry On'' (2009), marking the first time they had not released a record within two years. It was intended for an October 2012 release date and took nearly two years to complete. This is the last record to feature drummer Javier Weyler, who was officially replaced by Jamie Morrison on 24 September 2012. The album's earliest idea spawned when children were running across the singer's rooftop in order to access the trains and spray paint graffiti on one of them. With 40 unfinished song ideas, the band composed 30 of these to be released as an album trilogy but decided against the idea, instead releasing a follow up (intended to be the second part) on 11 September 2015. Dakota (song)
"Dakota" (released in the United States as "Dakota (You Made Me Feel Like the One)") is a song by Welsh alternative rock band Stereophonics. It was the first single taken from their fifth studio album, '' Language. Sex. Violence. Other?'', and was released on 28 February 2005. "Dakota" was the first and to date only Stereophonics single to reach number one and the last to reach the top ten on the UK Singles Chart and to chart on the US ''Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks chart. It also became the band's highest-charting single in both Australia and New Zealand. The song has been compared to the works of U2. Writing Kelly Jones started writing the music for "Dakota" in January 2004. We Share The Same Sun
"We Share the Same Sun" is a song by rock band Stereophonics. It is the opening track on their 2013 album ''Graffiti on the Train'' and was released as the album's fourth single on 12 August 2013. The song was released as a 10" vinyl format and Stereophonics have regularly played it as part of their set list. When ''Graffiti on the Train'' was released the song had a mixed to positive response and has been compared to "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac. Composition "We Share the Same Sun" is played at a tempo of 128 beats per minute. The song runs for 3:44 on both the album and single. It begins with an acoustic guitar playing E♭- D-Gm- F for fifteen seconds until lead singer Kelly Jones begins his vocals. Performance And Cocktails
''Performance and Cocktails'' is the second studio album by Welsh rock band Stereophonics. It was released by V2 on 8 March 1999. The name of the album comes from lyrics in the album's first song, "Roll Up and Shine", just like the previous album's name, ''Word Gets Around'' came from lyrics in that album's final song. The album was a surprise commercial success for Stereophonics but it received mixed reviews. Recording The songs were variously recorded at Real World Studios in Bath, Parkgate in Sussex and Rockfield in Monmouth. Album cover The cover photograph was taken by Scarlet Page in autumn 1998 at a football pitch under the Westway in London, and was inspired by an earlier Annie Leibovitz photograph of a couple kissing outside a prison. Word Gets Around
''Word Gets Around'' is the debut studio album by Welsh rock band Stereophonics. It was released on 25 August 1997 through V2 Records and reached number six in the UK Albums Chart, making it one of three Stereophonics albums not to reach number one; the other two being 2009's '' Keep Calm and Carry On'', which reached number eleven, and 2013's ''Graffiti on the Train'', which went to number three. Much of the album is written about everyday life in Cwmaman, the band's hometown. The deluxe and super-deluxe editions were released on 18 October 2010. The name of the album comes from lyrics in the album's last song, "Billy Davey's Daughter". Stuart Cable
Stuart James Cable (19 May 1970 – 7 June 2010) was a Welsh rock drummer and broadcaster, best known as the original drummer for the band Stereophonics. Early life Cable was born in Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, on 19 May 1970. When he was 10, his father died. Thereafter, Cable and his elder brother, Paul, were raised by their mother Mabel (born 1930) on her own. Cable grew up in the close-knit village of Cwmaman near Aberdare, He attended Blaengwawr Comprehensive School with his friend, Stereophonics singer-songwriter and guitarist Kelly Jones, who also lived on the same street. Kelly Jones
Kelly Jones (born 3 June 1974) is a Welsh singer-songwriter and a founding member, lead singer, and guitarist of the rock band Stereophonics. Early life and debut Kelly Jones was born youngest of three boys for Beryl and Arwyn Jones in the small Welsh former mining village of Cwmaman, Rhondda Cynon Taf, spending his childhood with them and his two older brothers, Kevin and Lee. Both of his parents worked in factories. His father coached youth football and pursued his own singing career. The name of Arwyn's backing band, Oscar and the Kingfishers, earned him the nickname 'Oscar' among friends and family. Javier Weyler
Javier Andrés Weyler (born 3 July 1975) is an Argentine-born Venezuelan-English drummer, best known as a member of Stereophonics from 2004 to 2012. He was the drummer in the Venezuelan band Claroscuro for over nine years until he left the country in 2001 to study audio engineering in London. In 2008 he released his first solo album, ''Lagrima'', under the pseudonym of Capitan Melao. It was released on 22 February 1999, reaching number four on the UK Singles Chart and number 18 in Ireland.
