Stephen Sanford (September 14, 1898 – May 31, 1977) (a.k.a. "Laddie") was an American polo champion and owner of Thoroughbred racing horses. Cornelius "Sonny" Vanderbilt Whitney (February 20, 1899 – December 13, 1992) was an American businessman, film producer, government official, writer and philanthropist. He was also a polo player and the owner of a significant stable of Thoroughbred racehorses. James Denison Colt (August 19, 1932 – June 5, 2008) was an American lawyer and politician who represented the 4th Essex District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1995 to 1997. Early life Colt was born on August 19, 1932, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Mary Forbes Atkinson Colt and Henry F. Colt. He was a member of Forbes family. Colt attended The Park School and St. Paul's School. He then went on to Harvard University, where he was a member of the Harvard Crimson hockey team. Captain Charles Thomas Irvine "Pat" Roark (1895–1939) was an English polo player. He held a ten goal handicap at the peak of his career. Biography Early life He was born in Ireland on 2 May 1895. His father was Thomas Irvine Roark of Wexford. He was commissioned into the Royal Irish Rifles in October 1914, transferred to the Household Cavalry in June 1917 and served in France in 1917 with the Life Guards, after which he transferred to the Indian Army and the 34th P.A.V.O.
