Stephen Kiogora
Stephen "Baba" Kiogora (born 10 November 1976) is a Kenyan former long-distance runner who competed in marathon races. His personal best for the distance is 2:08:24 hours (set in 2008). He has had top three finishes at the Boston Marathon, New York City Marathon and Frankfurt Marathon. The sole marathon win of his career came at the Las Vegas Marathon in 2005. He was the 1996 African champion over 10,000 metres. Biography Born in the city of Meru, Kenya, Kiogora initially began his career as a long-distance track specialist and had his first success at the 1996 African Championships in Athletics, where he won the gold medal over 10,000 metres. He then became a half marathon runner and won the Kiev Half Marathon and the Kenyan Armed Forces Half Marathon in 2000. Cologne Marathon
The Cologne Marathon (Köln-Marathon) is an annual marathon held in Cologne, Germany. Since October 1997 the marathon has been held annually in early October, except for 2004, 2005 and 2014 when it was held in late September. History The inaugural race took place on as the "Ford Cologne Marathon" (german: Ford Köln-Marathon, links=no) with at least 13,000 registered runners, a world record for inaugural marathons at the time. The 2020 in-person edition of the race was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, with all registrants given the option of obtaining a refund (minus an administration fee). Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot
Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot (born August 10, 1988) is a Kenyan marathon runner. He is known as a "true marathoner" who rarely races other distances. He finished fifth or better in the first four international marathons he has entered. Biography Hailing from Bomet in Kenya's Rift Valley Province, Cheruiyot's international debut was at the 2008 Frankfurt Marathon. Since he was not experienced, he had to purchase his own way and turn in a time under 2:14:00 to be reimbursed. He proceeded to surprise everyone, including himself, winning the race with a course record 2:07:21. In 2009, Cheruiyot finished fifth at the Alphen aan den Rijn and followed it up with a fifth-place finish at the 2009 Boston Marathon six weeks later with time of 2:10:06. Timothy Cherigat
Timothy Cherigat (born December 29, 1976, in Chepkorio) is a long-distance runner from Kenya, who was the winner of the 108th Boston Marathon held in 2004. Cherigat won this race in a time of 2:10:37 on an abnormally warm day during which temperatures reached as high as 87 °F (30 °C). Other Notable Races In addition to his Boston victory, Cherigat has a personal best of 2:09:34, which he attained while winning the San Sebastian Marathon in 2002. He also placed 3rd at the New York City Marathon in 2004. He has a few top ten finishes in the major U.S. marathons of Chicago, New York, and Boston but has yet to duplicate the success that he had in winning Boston in 2004.
