Stella (band)
Stella was formed in Joensuu, Finland in 2002. The band quickly managed a deal with Sony Records and released their first album ''Kuuntelija'' in 2004. The album only became a modest seller and soon after the band was moved to Elements Music label. Success came to the band after Katri Ylander, a contestant on the ''Idols (Finland), Idols'', performed a cover of "Piste." from Stella's first album. This led Stella in to the media and popularity as both the music press and public waited for their second release. The second album, ''Pelkääjän Paikalla'', was released in 2006, debuting at number 5 on Finnish album charts. In April 2008 Stella released their third album, ''Löytäjä Saa Pitää'', and topped at number three on national album charts. Joensuu
Joensuu (; krl, Jovensuu; ) is a city and municipality in North Karelia, Finland, located on the northern shore of Lake Pyhäselkä (northern part of Lake Saimaa) at the mouth of the Pielinen River (''Pielisjoki''). It was founded in 1848. The population of Joensuu is (), and the economic region of Joensuu has a population of 115,000. It is the largest city in Finland. The nearest major city, Kuopio in North Savonia, is located to the west. From Joensuu, the distance to Lappeenranta, the capital of South Karelia, is along Highway 6. As is typical of cities in Eastern Finland, Joensuu is monolingually Finnish. Along with Kuopio, Joensuu is one of major urban, economic, and cultural hubs of Eastern Finland. Sony Records
Sony Records was a record label founded by R&B duo Ike & Tina Turner in 1963. It was not affiliated with Sony Group Corporation. Ike Turner produced singles by members of the Kings of Rhythm and the Ikettes on Sony Records. Records on the label were distributed by CIRCA distributing firm. Katri Ylander
Katri Marianne Ylander (born 17 December 1985) is a Finnish singer who rose to popularity after finishing second in '' Idols Finland 2'', the Finnish version of ''Pop Idol''. Ylander received 45% of votes, while the winner, Ilkka Jääskeläinen, received the other 55%. She released her first album in June 2006, releasing a hit single soon afterwards, "Onko Vielä Aikaa?" ("Is there still time?"), which reached number one on the Finnish Radio Top 20 list in the week of 2 August. Ylander was born in Harjavalta, Finland. Idols (Finland)
''Idols'' is a Finnish reality-television singing competition that airs on Nelonen (and formerly also on MTV3 and Sub). It debuted in the summer of 2003, and went on to become one of the most popular shows on Finnish television. Part of the ''Idol'' franchise, it originated from the reality program ''Pop Idol'' created by British entertainment executive Simon Fuller, which was first aired in 2001 in the United Kingdom. The program seeks to discover the best unsigned singer in Finland through a series of nationwide auditions, and the outcomes of the later stages of the competition are determined by public phone voting. The four original judges were music executives Jone Nikula and Asko Kallonen, and songwriter-producers Hannu Korkeamäki and Nanna Mikkonen.
