Wallmerod (Verbandsgemeinde)
Wallmerod is a ''Verbandsgemeinde'' ("collective municipality") in the district Westerwaldkreis, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The seat of the ''Verbandsgemeinde'' is in Wallmerod. History The collective municipality of Wallmerod was formed on 1 March 1972, from 15 local communities of the Oberwesterwald circle and five municipalities in the Unterwesterwaldkreis. It was thus initially in the field of ''two'' counties, which changed in 1974 when the Westerwaldkreis had been rebuilt. Wallmerod was chosen as the administrative headquarters, because of its history as the seat of a local court. The community Hundsangen wanted to go to the neighboring federal land Hesse, which, however, failed due to the non-issuance of the appropriate authorization from Rhineland-Palatinate. Montabaur
Montabaur () is a town and the district seat of the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. At the same time, it is also the administrative centre of the ''Verbandsgemeinde'' of Montabaur – a kind of collective municipality – to which 24 other communities belong. The town is known throughout the country for its strikingly yellow castle and its InterCityExpress railway station on the Cologne-Frankfurt high-speed rail line. Westerwaldkreis
The Westerwaldkreis ("District of Westerwald") is a district (''Kreis'') in the north-east of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Neighbouring districts are (from north clockwise) Altenkirchen, Lahn-Dill, Limburg-Weilburg, Rhein-Lahn, the district-free city Koblenz, Mayen-Koblenz and Neuwied. History When the area became part of Prussia in 1866 two districts covering the area were created. The northern part was covered by the Oberwesterwaldkreis with capital in Marienberg, the Unterwesterwaldkreis with capital in Montabaur covering the southern part. 1886 a third district was added with the Westerburg district with area from both of the other two districts. A Verbandsgemeinde (; plural Verbandsgemeinden) is a low-level administrative unit in the German federal states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony-Anhalt. A Verbandsgemeinde is typically composed of a small group of villages or towns. Rhineland-Palatinate The state of Rhineland-Palatinate is divided into 163 Verbandsgemeinden, which are municipal associations grouped within the 24 districts of the state and subdivided into 2,257 Ortsgemeinden (singular Ortsgemeinde) which comprise single settlements. is an autobahn in Germany running from the Germany-Netherlands border near Wesel in the northwest to the Germany-Austria border near Passau. Major cities along its total length of 778 km (483 mi) include Oberhausen, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Leverkusen, Cologne, Wiesbaden, Frankfurt, Würzburg, Nuremberg and Regensburg. Limburg (Lahn) station is a station in the city of Limburg an der Lahn in the German state of Hesse. It is on the Lahntal railway (german: Lahntalbahn), running between Koblenz Hauptbahnhof, Koblenz and Gießen station, Gießen. Limburg Süd ( en, Limburg South) is a station in the town of Limburg an der Lahn, in the German state of Hesse. It is located in the ''Eschhöfer Feld'' ("Eschhofen field") (brochure, 20 pages) in the district of Eschhofen at the 110.5 kilometre point of the Cologne–Frankfurt high-speed railway. Limburg Süd is the only station in Germany that is served solely by Intercity-Express (ICE) services. Montabaur station is a station at the 89.1 kilometre point of the Cologne-Frankfurt high-speed railway and on the Limburg–Siershahn railway (Lower Westerwald Railway) in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The station, which is served by regional and long-distance passenger services and freight traffic, is on the outskirts of the town of Montabaur. It is aligned parallel with Autobahn 3 (A3), which runs immediately to the north. The construction costs amounted to €23.6 million. InterCityExpress
The Intercity Express (commonly known as ICE ()) is a system of high-speed trains predominantly running in Germany.
