Steinbach an der Steyr is a municipality in the district of Kirchdorf an der Krems in the Austrian state of Upper Austria. Geography and geology Steinbach is in the valley of the river Steyr. It is above sea level and south of the town Steyr. 36.0% of its area is wood, 53.7% of the area is used for agriculture. The highest hill is the Hochbuchberg (). The nearby lodge Grünburger Hütte is . The community area is divided into four subparts: Steinbach, Pieslwang, Forstau and Zehetner. Nearby communities are Grünburg, Ternberg, Aschach an der Steyr, Waldneukirchen and Molln. The river Steyr on the west side of the community is embedded in deep carved gravel terraces with a few sand banks. The canyon is mostly natural and the water quality is excellent. Bad Hall
Bad Hall () is a market town in the Steyr-Land district of the Austrian state of Upper Austria. Its name, Bad Hall, means "salt bath," a reference to its long history of baths and spas. It is renowned for its saline springs, strongly impregnated with iodine and bromine. Although the springs have been known since the 8th century, Hall has been noted for them only since 1855, when the springs became the property of the government. Due to the saline springs tourism is well developed in Bad Hall. There are also some industrial companies (e.g. AGRU Kunststofftechnik) as well as oil exploration around Bad Hall (e.g. RAG AG). Steyrtalbahn
The Steyr Valley Railway (german: Steyrtalbahn) was a narrow gauge railway in Upper Austria, which ran along the valley of the River Steyr from Garsten through Steyr, Grünburg and Molln to Klaus, with a branchline to Sierning and Bad Hall. A section of the line has been retained as a museum railway. History The main industries of the Steyr valley were forestry and metalworking. Timber obtained in the area was of a quality useful only for building and firewood or for the charcoal or paper production. Road transport was too expensive, and rail transport was required so the timber could be harvested profitably. In 1868 the Rudolf Railway (''Rudolfsbahn'') connected the city of Steyr to the railway network. By 1887 the Krems Valley Railway (''Kremstalbahn'') reached Bad Hall and Klaus.
