Stefano Sannino
Stefano Sannino (born 24 December 1959 in Portici) is an Italians, Italian diplomat and European Civil Service, European civil servant. Career After studying political science at the University of Naples Federico II, University of Naples, Sannino entered the Italian diplomatic service in 1986. He served as deputy chief of mission at the Italian embassy in Belgrade (1994–96), before being seconded to the Italian government as head of office of the secretary of state for foreign affairs in the Romano Prodi#First term as Prime Minister, first Prodi government (1996–98). In 1998-2001, Sannino was chief of staff to Italy’s trade ministers Piero Fassino, and then Enrico Letta. He then went back to diplomacy, and to Belgrade, as head of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, OSCE mission in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (2001–02). The president of the European Commission is the head of the European Commission, the executive branch of the European Union (EU). The President of the Commission leads a Cabinet of Commissioners, referred to as the College, collectively accountable to the European Parliament. The Order of Merit of the Italian Republic ( it, Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana) is the senior Italian order of merit. It was established in 1951 by the second President of the Italian Republic, Luigi Einaudi. The highest-ranking honour of the Republic, it is awarded for "merit acquired by the nation" in the fields of literature, the arts, economy, public service, and social, philanthropic and humanitarian activities and for long and conspicuous service in civilian and military careers. The post-nominal letters for the order are OMRI. Helga Maria Schmid (born 8 December 1960 in Dachau, West Germany) is a German diplomat who has been serving as the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) since 2020. Prior to that appointment (from 2016 until 2020), she was the Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS). The European External Action Service (EEAS) is the diplomatic service and combined foreign and defence ministry of the European Union (EU). The EEAS is led by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (HR/VP), who is also President of the Foreign Affairs Council and vice-president of the European Commission, and carries out the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), including the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). On 10 May 2016, he was appointed Minister of Economic Development in the government of Matteo Renzi and continued in that role in the government of Renzi's successor, Paolo Gentiloni.
