Georg Nickaes
Georg "Schorsch" Nickaes (born 12 June 1971) is a German ski mountaineer and speaker of the German ski mountaineering team. Nickaes was born in Bad Reichenhall. He enjoys also mountain running and ice climbing, and finished the army mountain guide training in 1994. He started in international ski mountaineering races after 1999. Patrouille Des Glaciers
The Patrouille des Glaciers (PDG) is a ski mountaineering race organised every two years by the Swiss Armed Forces, in which military and civilian teams compete. It takes place once every two years at the end of April, in the south part of the canton of Valais below the summits of the Pennine Alps. The Patrouille des Glaciers is a stage of La Grande Course that includes the most important ski mountaineering competitions of the season. There are two different races, a normal and a short one: *Zermatt – Arolla – Verbier: 53 kilometres, altitude difference +3994m and – 4090m. Andreas Strobel (born 13 May 1972) is a German ski mountaineer and marathon mountain biker. Strobel was born in Selb, and started bike sports as condition training in 1991. After bad results at the "Ronda Extrema" race in Riva del Garda in 1997, he intensified the training. He is also member of the national ski mountaineering team. The 2007 European Championship of Ski Mountaineering (french: Championnat d'Europe de ski de montagne 2007) was the seventh European Championship of ski mountaineering and was held in Avoriaz, Morzine between the Mont Blanc and the Lac Léman from March 24 - 28. Vertical Race
A Vertical Race is a special kind of ski mountaineering without the typical downhill skiing after ascending. At the mountain running and climbing passages the runners have to carry their skis in their backpacks. Vertical Races for women and men are part of all international ski mountaineering competitions of the International Council for Ski Mountaineering Competitions (ISMC) as well as at many national competitions.
