State Planning Organization (Turkey)
State Planning Organization ( tr, Devlet Planlama Teşkilatı, DPT) was founded on September 30, 1960, as part of the NUC's plans to help Turkey recover from the rule of the DP (whose leader Adnan Menderes did not use state planning except partially in the agricultural sector). It was one of the most important governmental organizations in Turkey. Its principal tasks were to provide advice to the government on the determination of economic, social and cultural goals of the state, and to design five-year plans according to the goals set by the government. By increasing liberalization of the Turkish economic policy, the DPT lost its importance, and was incorporated into the newly established Ministry of Development in June 2011. Ankara ( , ; ), historically known as Ancyra and Angora, is the capital of Turkey. Adnan Menderes
Adnan Menderes (; 1899 – 17 September 1961) was a Turkish politician who served as Prime Minister of Turkey between 1950 and 1960. He was one of the founders of the Democrat Party (DP) in 1946, the fourth legal opposition party of Turkey. He was tried and hanged under the military junta after the 1960 coup d'état, along with two other cabinet members, Fatin Rüştü Zorlu and Hasan Polatkan. One of the accusations brought against him was of him ordering the Istanbul pogrom against citizens of Greek ethnicity. He was the last Turkish political leader to be executed after a military coup and is also one of the four political leaders of the Turkish Republic (along with Kemal Atatürk, Süleyman Demirel and Turgut Özal) to have had a mausoleum built in his honour. Feridun Bilgin
Feridun Bilgin (born 1964) is a Turkish civil servant and politician who served as the Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communication of Turkey from 7 March to 17 November 2015. Formerly the Undersecretary to the Ministry, Bilgin took over from the Justice and Development Party minister Lütfi Elvan as required by Article 114 of the Turkish constitution. He was one of the founders of the newly founded Future Party in 2019. Nazım Ekren (born December 4, 1956 in Istanbul) was a Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey responsible for economic affairs. Political career He was appointed to his position in August 2007, succeeding Abdüllatif Şener. Ekren is a former professor of banking and international finance. Ekren graduated in economics from the Bursa Academy of Economics and Finance (Iktisadi ve Ticari Ilimler Akdemisi), and then received a Master's degree and PhD from Uludağ University in Bursa, going on to a career as an academic in the field of economics at Marmara University in Istanbul. Turgut Özal
Halil Turgut Özal (; 13 October 192717 April 1993) was a Turkish politician, who served as the 8th President of Turkey from 1989 to 1993. He previously served as the 26th Prime Minister of Turkey from 1983 to 1989 as the leader of the Motherland Party. He was the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey in the military government of Bülend Ulusu between 1980 and 1982. After working briefly at the World Bank in the United States and as a university lecturer, Özal became the general secretary and later the leader of the main miners' trade union of Turkey in 1979, serving as a chief negotiator during large-scale industrial action in 1977. RASAT
RASAT was an earth observation satellite designed and developed by TÜBİTAK Space Technologies Research Institute (TÜBİTAK UZAY) and produced in Turkey to provide high resolution imagery. It was the first remote sensing satellite fully realized in Turkey, and the second indigenously developed remote sensing satellite after BILSAT-1.
