State Highway 64 (Kerala)
State Highway 64 (SH 64) is a state highway in Kerala, India that starts in Varkala municipality of Trivandrum and ends in Madathara of Kollam. The highway is 45 km long. The Route Map Varkala - Kannamba - Nadayara - Palayamkunnu - Chavarcode - Parippally (Cross- NH 66) -Pallickal-Nilamel (cross (State Highway 1 (Kerala), SH 1) MC Road)- Kadakkal - Chithara - Madathara (Joined SH 02). The main disadvantage is vehicle has to cross a railway gate in Varkala near to Railway Station. Govt. is proposed a railway over bridge to cross this hurdle. But the construction is not yet started. Kerala Public Works Department
Kerala Public Works Department (KPWD) is a department under the government of the state of Kerala, India. It manages the construction and maintenance of civil structures owned by the government viz; government buildings, government owned hospitals (part of the public health system), roads, bridges etc. The KPWD was formed in 1956 following reorganization of states. History In Kochi, British Residents had a separate department called Public Works Commission to carry off construction works in British Cochin. The kingdom had its own Marmath Department since 1825, as a separate agency to monitor construction of roads and palaces. The Main Central Road, better known as MC Road is the arterial State Highway starting from Kesavadasapuram in Trivandrum city and ends at Angamaly, a suburb of Kochi city in Ernakulam District, in the state of Kerala, India. It is designated as State Highway 1 by the Kerala Public Works Department. The highway was built by Raja Kesavadas, Dewan of Travancore. NH 66
National Highway 66, commonly referred to as NH 66 (erstwhile NH-17 and a part of NH-47), is a mostly 4 lane long busy National Highway (India), National Highway that runs roughly north–south along the western coast of India, parallel to the western ghats, Western Ghats. It connects Panvel (a city south of Mumbai) to Kanyakumari, Cape Comorin (Kanyakumari), passing through the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The highway is undergoing a major overhaul in Karnataka, where the state government has accepted the NHAI's request of international standard, 60-metre-wide national highway with grade separators. The complete stretch from the Goa border (near Karwar) to the Kerala border (near Talapady) is being widened to four lanes, with space to accommodate future expansion to six lanes. Kollam
Kollam (), also known by its former name Quilon , is an ancient seaport and city on the Malabar Coast of India bordering the Laccadive Sea, which is a part of the Arabian Sea. It is north of the state capital Thiruvananthapuram. The city is on the banks of Ashtamudi Lake and the Kallada river. It is the headquarters of the Kollam district.
