Stars Of Space Jam
''Stars of Space Jam'' is a collection of ''Looney Tunes'' VHS tapes released in 1996 to promote the release of ''Space Jam''. A Japanese LaserDisc of this set was released around the same time. Each tape/side featured six cartoons, most of which had not been made available on home video before. This was also notably the first video series with a video featuring all the cartoons of the Tasmanian Devil. The series was discontinued around the time the ''Looney Tunes Presents'' video series came out. Each tape in this series began with a short version of the "Warner Bros. Family Entertainment" logo as seen on Warner Bros. Animation's cartoon shows (albeit with a short ''Merrie Melodies'' fanfare). DVD releases have been released on October 9, 2018, with some slight changes to the ''Bugs Bunny'' and ''Daffy Duck'' releases. ''Space Jam'' is a 1996 American live-action/animated sports comedy film directed by Joe Pytka, with animation sequences directed by Bruce W. Smith and Tony Cervone, and written by Leo Benvenuti, Steve Rudnick, Timothy Harris, and Herschel Weingrod. The film stars basketball player Michael Jordan as a fictional version of himself; Wayne Knight and Theresa Randle appear in supporting roles, while Billy West, Dee Bradley Baker, Kath Soucie and Danny DeVito headline the voice cast. The film is a fictionalized account of the timeline between Jordan's initial retirement from the NBA in 1993 and his 1995 return, during which he is enlisted by the ''Looney Tunes'' characters to aid them in a basketball match against visiting aliens who intend to enslave them as attractions for their amusement park. ''Bedevilled Rabbit'' is a 1957 Warner Bros. ''Merrie Melodies'' short directed by Robert McKimson. The short was released on April 13, 1957, and stars Bugs Bunny. In this cartoon, Bugs is lost in Tasmania, and has to deal with the Tasmanian Devil. Plot After a box of carrots is dropped into the middle of a jungle in Tasmania, Bugs pops out, wondering how he went from sleeping in a carrot patch to the middle of Tasmania. Suddenly, a group of animals (both wild and domesticated) come running through the woods, scared for their lives (Bugs mistakes it for "chow time at the zoo"). A crocodile (who turns himself inside out into a bag for a disguise) hands Bugs a booklet talking about the Tasmanian devil and the many things it eats. Bugs reads: "Beware of the Tasmanian Devil, a vicious, ravenous brute with powerful jaws like a steel trap. ''Hook, Line and Stinker'' is a 1958 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon directed by Chuck Jones. The title is a pun on the idiom Hook, Line and Sinker. The short was released on October 11, 1958, and stars Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner. When shown on Boomerang USA, this short plays in PAL audio. Plot The Road Runner ("Burnius-Roadibus") is being chased by Wile E. Coyote ("Famishius-Famishus") as usual, until he stops and steps aside as the Coyote passes him. The Coyote skids to a stop, causing a cloud of dust to cover him, giving him a cloud beard. The Road Runner beeps and zooms off, lifting the pavement off the ground. Plot ''Introduction'': Wile E. Coyote (everreadii eatibus) points at the text with his scientific name, then points at himself, saying that the text is talking about him, before he is scared up into the sky by the Road Runner (digoutius hot-rodis), who then starts the chase after he comes down. The chase continues, until they reach a tunnel in which the Road Runner leaves the path, allowing a truck to chase Wile E. ''Fast and Furry-ous'' is a 1949 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon, directed by Chuck Jones and written by Michael Maltese. The short was released on September 17, 1949, and stars Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, in their debut. This was the debut of the Coyote/Road Runner pairing and set the template for the series, in which Wile E. Coyote (here given the mock genus/species name in faux-Latin ''Carnivorous Vulgaris'') tries to catch the Road Runner (''Accelleratii Incredibus'') through many traps, plans and products. ''Zoom and Bored'' is a 1957 Warner Bros. cartoon, being apart of the '' Merrie Melodies'' series and directed by Chuck Jones. The short was released on September 14, 1957, and stars Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner. Plot The Coyote and Road Runner begin to chase, freezing momentarily for the credits and Latin names to be shown: COYOTE: Famishus vulgaris and ROAD RUNNER: Birdibus zippibus. From here, Road Runner speeds off, leaving the coyote to fall on the ground. Wile E. recovers quickly, kicks up some dust, and begins to chase Road. However, Road Runner leaves so much dust in the road that his pursuer cannot see where he is going. Eventually, except for his ears, Wile E. is completely enclosed in the dust. ''Gee Whiz-z-z-z-z-z-z'' is a 1956 Warner Bros. '' Looney Tunes'' cartoon directed by Chuck Jones. The short was released on May 5, 1956, and stars Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner. Plot The cartoon begins with the title sign and the Coyote hiding behind it, before the Road Runner speeding past. As he comes by, the Coyote runs right after him but gets hit by a truck (with the card on which the main producers of the cartoon are shown), and just the moment Wile E is hit, even a box falls on him with Charles M. Jones' name. The Coyote angrily throws the box away and his mock genus/species name in faux-Latin (''Eatius Birdius'') is shown. Originally released on May 29, 1957 (before being re-issued on May 26, 1962), this short stars Tweety and Sylvester the Cat. Audio from this cartoon was sampled by Paul McCartney on the song "Check My Machine", released in 1980 as the B-side to the single "Waterfalls". Plot The cartoon, set in a city zoo, begins with a tour guide showing various animal exhibits to visitors. The final stop (at least as far as viewers can see) is the exhibit featuring the "one and only example" of the Tweety Bird species.
