Stark's Twin Oaks Airpark is a privately owned public-use airport located 4 miles (6.4 km) south of the city of Hillsboro, Oregon, Hillsboro in Washington County, Oregon, Washington County, Oregon, United States. History Herb Stark and his wife Ruth Stark established the airport on an old dairy farm in 1972 after their previous airstrip in Tigard, Oregon, Tigard closed in 1969. Herb and Ruth's son Robert Stark and his wife Betty took over ownership of Twin Oaks, and still owned the airpark as of August 2012. Operations Fuel, aircraft repair, and flight training are available at the airport located along River Road and the Tualatin River. Hillsboro ( ) is the fifth-largest city in the U.S. state of Oregon and is the county seat of Washington County. The Tualatin River is a tributary of the Willamette River in Oregon in the United States. The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is an international organization of aviation enthusiasts based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, United States. Since its inception, it has grown internationally with over 200,000 members and nearly 1,000 chapters worldwide. Luscombe 8E
The Luscombe 8 is a series of high-wing, side-by-side-seating monoplanes with conventional landing gear, designed in 1937 and built by Luscombe Aircraft. Development Luscombe Aircraft closed in 1949, with its assets purchased by Temco Aircraft, also US-based.Gunston 2005, p. 294. Temco built about 50 Silvaires before selling the rights to the Silvaire Aircraft Corporation in 1955. Silvaire Aircraft Company: When TEMCO chose to discontinue production, the Luscombe tooling, parts and other assets were purchased by Otis Massey. Massey had been a Luscombe dealer since the 1930s. His new venture opened in Fort Collins, Colorado, as Silvaire Uranium and Aircraft Corp. From 1956 to 1961, this firm produced 80 aircraft.
