Stanley Toyne
Stanley Mease "Sam" Toyne FRHS (13 June 1881 – 22 February 1962) was an English first-class cricketer and headmaster. Education and headmaster Educated at Haileybury and at Hertford College, Oxford, where he was a Classical Exhibitioner, Toyne was a Master at Haileybury between 1906 and 1913. He was headmaster of St Peter's School, York, from 1913 to 1936, where he coached future England captain Norman Yardley, and on the staff of Bedford School between 1937 and 1945.Obituary, ''The Times'', 24 February 1962, p.10 He was a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and published a number of books on history. Bournemouth () is a coastal resort town in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole council area of Dorset, England. Norman Yardley
Norman Walter Dransfield Yardley (19 March 1915 – 3 October 1989) was an English cricketer who played for Cambridge University, Yorkshire County Cricket Club and England, as a right-handed batsman and occasional bowler. An amateur, he captained Yorkshire from 1948 to 1955 and England on fourteen occasions between 1947 and 1950, winning four Tests, losing seven and drawing three. Yardley was named Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1948 and in his obituary in ''Wisden Cricketers' Almanack'', he was described as Yorkshire's finest amateur since Stanley Jackson. Yardley played schoolboy cricket at St Peter's, York. A highly talented all-round sportsman, he went to St John's College, Cambridge, and won Blues at cricket, squash, rugby fives and field hockey. Cambridge University Cricket Club
Cambridge University Cricket Club, first recorded in 1817, is the representative cricket club for students of the University of Cambridge. Depending on the circumstances of each individual match, the club has always been recognised as holding first-class status. The university played List A cricket in 1972 and 1974 only. It has not played top-level Twenty20 cricket. With some 1,200 members, home matches are played at Fenner's. The club has three men's teams (Blues, Crusaders and the Colleges XI) and one women's team which altogether play nearly 100 days of cricket each season. Yorkshire County Cricket Club is one of 18 first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Yorkshire. Underarm Bowling
Underarm bowling is a style of bowling in cricket. The style is as old as the sport itself. Until the introduction of the roundarm style in the first half of the 19th century, bowling was performed in the same way as in the sport of bowls, with the ball being delivered with the hand below the waist. Bowls may well be an older game than cricket and it is possible that it provided a template for delivering a ball with a degree of accuracy.
