Caroline Stam
Caroline Stam is a Dutch classical soprano who has an international (European) performing career specializing in baroque repertoire, reinforced by a distinguished presence in modern recordings (see below). Education Stam studied voice at the Sweelinck Conservatory Amsterdam with Erna Spoorenberg, graduated with honours, and continued in master classes with Elly Ameling. Career Stam has performed in recital in Germany, France, Spain and Great Britain with conductors such as Iván Fischer, David Willcocks and Ton Koopman. She appeared at the Festivals La Folle Journée in Nantes and the Bremer Bachfest. Marieke Stam (born 21 April 1964) is a retired speed skater from the Netherlands. John Cornelius Stam (January 18, 1907 – December 8, 1934) and Elisabeth Alden "Betty" Stam (née Scott; February 22, 1906 – December 8, 1934) were American Christian missionaries to China, with the China Inland Mission (CIM), during the Chinese Civil War. The missionary couple were executed by Communist Chinese soldiers in 1934. Ransom demanded Tsingtao (today called Qingdao), a city on the east coast of China, was Betty Stam's childhood home; she (the oldest of five children) grew up there, where Betty's father, Charles Scott, was a missionary. In 1926, Betty returned to the United States to attend college. While a student at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago she met John Stam, who was also a student at Moody. Betty returned to China in 1931. When John arrived in Shanghai in 1932, they unexpectedly met again. They married in 1933. Stefan Stam (born 14 September 1979) is a former Dutch footballer who played as a centre back. His previous clubs include AZ, PSV, Eindhoven, AFC, Oldham Athletic, Yeovil Town, Hereford United, FC Den Bosch and Katwijk. Life and career Stam was born in Amersfoort. He played for VV Grasshoppers of Hoogwoud before playing for the youth teams of both AZ and PSV. He made his professional debut for Eindhoven and spent two seasons playing for the club in the Eerste Divisie. He moved to England in 2003, signing for Oldham Athletic after a successful trial. Ronnie Theodorous Stam (born 18 June 1984) is a Dutch former professional footballer who mostly played as a right back. Club career Early career After starting his footballing career with amateur side PCP, the eight-year-old Stam joined hometown club NAC Breda. He played in the youth of NAC for five years, before he was picked up by Dutch giants Feyenoord. He played very well, and was invited for the Dutch national under-14 team. In May 2001, Stam was also invited to play for the Dutch national under-16 team, that participated in the U16 European Championship in England. Robert Stam (born October 29, 1941) is an American film theorist working on film semiotics. He is a professor at New York University, where he teaches about the French New Wave filmmakers. Stam has published widely on French literature, comparative literature, and on film topics such as film history and film theory. Paul B. "Skip" Stam Jr. (born September 5, 1950) was a Republican member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's 37th House district, including constituents in Wake County. An attorney from Apex, North Carolina, Stam was elected to his seventh (non-consecutive) term in the state House of Representatives in 2012. He was first elected in 1988, but was defeated for re-election in 1990. Neil Stam
Neil Stam (born January 7, 1942, in Hackensack, New Jersey) is a retired U.S. soccer defender who was a member of the U.S. Olympic soccer team at the 1972 Summer Olympics. Stam attended Springfield College where he played on the men's soccer team from 1960 to 1963. He graduated in 1964 with a degree in sports physiology. In 1988, Springfield inducted Stam into its Athletic Hall of Fame. His career between 1964 and 1967 is unknown, but that year, he began playing with the U.S. Olympic Soccer Team as it began qualification for the finals. Stam was captain of the team which was unsuccessful in reaching the tournament. He returned to the Olympic team in 1971. Mart Stam (August 5, 1899 – February 21, 1986) was a Dutch architect, urban planner, and furniture designer. Stam was extraordinarily well-connected, and his career intersects with important moments in the history of 20th-century European architecture, including the invention of the cantilever tubular chair, teaching at the Bauhaus, contributions to the Weissenhof Estate, the Van Nelle Factory, (an important modernist landmark in Rotterdam), buildings for Ernst May, Ernst May's New Frankfurt housing estates, followed by work in the USSR with the idealistic May Brigade, to teaching positions in Amsterdam and post-war East Germany. Koen Stam (born 27 February 1987) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a central defender. He is currently the Head of Methodology at the Feyenoord Academy. Player career Stam came through the youth ranks of vv SRC from his hometown Schagen, and was signed to the youth department of AZ. He never came further than the reserve team, and was loaned out to Cambuur Leeuwarden in the 2006–07 season. Hugo Brandt Corstius
Hugo Brandt Corstius (29 August 1935 – 28 February 2014) was a Dutch author, known for his achievements in both literature and science. In 1970, he was awarded a PhD on the subject of computational linguistics. He was employed at the Mathematisch Centrum in Amsterdam. However, to the general public he is mostly known for his writing, in particular as a columnist for Vrij Nederland and de Volkskrant and as linguist and literary critic for Vrij Nederland, de Volkskrant, and NRC Handelsblad. Pseudonyms Hugo Brandt Corstius wrote under over sixty different pseudonyms, allonyms and aliases. He claimed each of them to be a component of his character.
