Edward Bushrod Stahlman (September 2, 1843 – August 12, 1930) was a German-born American railroad executive, newspaper publisher and real estate investor. He was the vice president of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad and the Louisville, New Albany and Chicago Railroad. He built The Stahlman, a skyscraper in Nashville, Tennessee, and he was the publisher of the '' Nashville Banner'' for 44 years. Early life Edward Bushrod Stahlman was born as Friedrick Heinrich Eduard Stahlmann on September 2, 1843 in Güstrow, Germany. James Geddes Stahlman (February 28, 1893 – May 1, 1976) was an American newspaper publisher and philanthropist. He was the publisher of the ''Nashville Banner''. He was opposed to desegregation. Early years James Geddes Stahlman was born on February 28, 1893, in Nashville, Tennessee. His paternal grandfather was Major Edward Bushrod Stahlman, a German-born railroad executive and the owner of the ''Nashville Banner'', whose brother-in-law, Marcus Toney, was a Klansman and Masonic leader. Stahlman earned his bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University in 1916, and attended graduate school at the University of Chicago for a year. Sylvia Stahlman (March 5, 1929 – August 19, 1998) was an American soprano, particularly associated with light, coloratura roles. Career Stahlman was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and studied at the Juilliard School in New York City. She began her career on Broadway, in 1948-49, in Kurt Weill's '' Love Life'', opposite Nanette Fabray, directed by Elia Kazan. She left for Europe to begin a career in opera, performing first under the name Giulia Bardi. She made her debut at La Monnaie in Brussels, as Elvira in ''I puritani'', in 1951, and remained with that theatre until 1954. She also sang in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Vienna, and appeared at the Glyndebourne Festival in 1959, as Ilia in ''Idomeneo''. The Tapley Mountains () is a mountain range fronting on the eastern side of the Scott Glacier, extending eastward for between Leverett and Albanus glaciers in the Queen Maud Mountains, a part of the larger Transantarctic Mountains. The Stahlman is a historic building in Nashville, Tennessee, U.S. It was completed in 1907 for Major Edward Bushrod Stahlman. History It was built by Major Edward Bushrod Stahlman. When the Stahlman building opened in 1907, it housed the Fourth National Bank. The original vault still resides in the basement. It remained in the Stahlman family until the 1950s. Stahlmann ( "Steelman") is a German Neue Deutsche Härte band that formed in Göttingen in 2008. History Formation debut album (2008–2010) Martin Soer met Alexander Scharfe in 2008 and formed the band Stahlmann later that year, writing their own songs. Soon after Tobi B joined and in 2009, the debut EP ''Herzschlag'' was released which entered the top 20 of the Deutsche Alternative Charts for four weeks. Richard Matthew Stallman (; born March 16, 1953), also known by his initials, rms, is an American free software movement activist and programmer. He campaigns for software to be distributed in such a manner that its users have the freedom to use, study, distribute, and modify that software. Kurt Stallmann (born 1964) is an American composer who lives and works in Houston, Texas. Education Kurt Stallmann was born in Rockford, Illinois. In 1987, he received a bachelor's degree in music from Northern Illinois University. That same year, he relocated to Boston, Massachusetts where he composed, improvised, and collaborated with modern dance choreographers. In 1990, he was invited by Yasuko Tokunaga to join the Dance Division faculty at The Boston Conservatory to design a course for dancers that developed listening and analysis skills for the purpose of creating new choreography.
