Stade Cheikha Ould Boïdiya
Stade Cheikha Ould Boïdiya is a football stadium located in Nouakchott, Mauritania which has a capacity of 8,200 spectators. It is located adjacent (south) to the École d'Application, opposite to the Maison de Jeunes to the west and Lycée d'Arabe to the south. A racing club with a swimming pool and four tennis courts is also located in the complex. It's the second oldest stadium after the Stade du Ksar. History The stadium was built in 1968. It was inaugurated in 1969 under the name of Stade de la Capitale. In 1970 it hosted the first national sporting event in Mauritania, a National Sports Week, inaugurated by President Mokhtar Ould Daddah. In 1983, with the inauguration of the Stade Olympique, all sports competitions were transferred to the new stadium, in front of it that would deteriorate over time, abandoned to its fate. Mokhtar Ould Daddah
Moktar Ould Daddah ( ar, مختار ولد داداه, Mukhtār Wald Dāddāh; December 25, 1924 – October 14, 2003) was a Mauritanian politician who led the country after it gained its independence from France. Daddah served as the country's first Prime Minister from 1957 to 1961 and as its first President of Mauritania, a position he held from 1960 until he was deposed in a military coup d'etat in 1978. He established a one-party state, with his Mauritanian People's Party being the sole legal political entity in the country, and followed a policy of "Islamic socialism" with many nationalizations of private businesses. In his memoirs, Daddah expressed concern that the issue of slavery in Mauritania could lead to armed conflict that would ultimately destroy the country. In foreign affairs, he joined the Non-Aligned Movement and maintained strong links with Mao Zedong and the People's Republic of China, but he also accepted Western (especially French) foreign aid. 2021 Africa U-20 Cup Of Nations
The 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations was the 16th edition of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations (23rd edition if tournaments without hosts are included), the biennial international youth football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for players aged 20 and below. In September 2018, it was decided that the tournament would be hosted by Mauritania. This will be the first edition in Africa U-20 Cup of Nations to have expanded to 12 teams instead of eight. The top four teams of the tournament would have normally qualified for the 2021 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia as the CAF representatives. However, FIFA decided to cancel the tournament on 24 December 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. The defending champions Mali failed to qualify.
