Stabekk is a suburban centre in the municipality of Bærum, Norway, west of Oslo. It is predominantly a residential area, with many residents commuting to Oslo. As of 2005 the population was 6,261. Bærum has the highest income per capita and the highest proportion of university-educated individuals in Norway. It is one of Norway's priciest and most fashionable residential areas, leading residents to be frequently stereotyped as snobs in Norwegian popular culture. The area has some of the most conservative populace in Norway Stabekk has a commercial district, roughly divided into ''Øvre'' (Upper) Stabekk and ''Nedre'' (Lower) Stabekk, separated by a hill. Viken (county)
Viken is a county under disestablishment in Eastern Norway that was established on 1 January 2020 by the merger of Akershus, Buskerud and Østfold with the addition of three other municipalities. Viken was controversial from the onset, with an approval rating of about 20% in the region, and the merger was resisted by all the three counties. Viken has been compared to gerrymandering. The county executive of Viken determined in 2019, before the merger had taken effect, that the county's disestablishment is its main political goal, and the formal process to dissolve Viken was initiated by the county executive in right after the 2021 Norwegian parliamentary election in which parties seeking to reverse the merger won a majority. Stabekk Station
Stabekk Station ( no, Stabekk stasjon) is a railway station of the Drammen Line situated at Stabekk in Bærum, Norway. Located from Oslo Central Station, it is served by line L1, L2, L2x and L21 of the Oslo Commuter Rail and by Flytoget - the express train to Oslo Airport. It is located in a primarily residential area and has four regular hourly services operated by the Norwegian State Railways. The station features an island platform accessible from the station building on the south side. The station opened on 29 May 1884, twelve years after the line was completed. The station building, designed by Paul Due, was completed in 1904. It received major upgrade from 1917 to 1922, when an all-new station building and the railway was doubled, electrified and gauge converted to standard gauge. Drammenbanen
The Drammen Line ( no, Drammenbanen) is a railway line between Oslo and Drammen, Norway, which was opened on 7 October 1872. It serves all trains west of Oslo Central Station and is owned by Bane NOR. The line opened as a narrow gauge railway, and rebuilt to standard gauge between 1913 and 1922. The line was electrified in 1922, as the first line on the national network to be electrified. The Lieråsen Tunnel shortened the line in 1973, and in 1980 the Oslo Tunnel was built, allowing the line to connect to the new Oslo Central Station. The Asker Line runs parallel to the Drammen Line, mostly in tunnels. At Drammen, the Vestfold Line branches off to the south while the Bergen Line and the Sørlandet Line continue together to Hokksund along the Randsfjorden Line. Bandy is a winter sport and ball sport played by two teams wearing ice skates on a large ice surface (either indoors or outdoors) while using sticks to direct a ball into the opposing team's goal. Bekkestua
Bekkestua is a town in the municipality of Bærum, Norway, with a busy bus terminal and a station on one of Oslo's westbound T-bane lines, Kolsåsbanen. It also has its own library, police station and fire station. It has grown to be the second largest centre of the municipality after Sandvika, with small restaurants and shopping centres. Jo Benkow (born Josef Elias Benkowitz; 15 August 1924 – 18 May 2013) was a Norwegian politician and writer, notable for being an important person in the Conservative Party of Norway, and the President of the Parliament 1985–1993.
